NFL Power Rankings: 5 Teams Not Far from Postseason Berth Next Season
The following five non-playoff teams could make a push toward the NFL playoffs next season.
Philadelphia Eagles
A four-game winning streak to end the 2011 season has to give the Eagles a touch of confidence heading into the offseason.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If they can fill some of their obvious holes in the heart of their defense through the draft or free agency, the Eagles will be a playoff threat in 2012. Getting former Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo to coach the defense would be a huge addition, too.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys were just a win way from the postseason this season, so they obviously aren't far off. The improvements this offseason have to start in the secondary, where the Cowboys have very little depth and talent leading into 2012.
But in the end, Dallas has to be tougher mentally as a football team. That can be a hard attribute to acquire during an offseason.
Tennessee Titans
Is this Jake Locker's team in 2012?
Given Locker played well in limited action this season, plus the fact he'll have an offseason to learn and grow, it's a good bet that he'll be the starter next season. That could be a spark for the Titans.
Getting Chris Johnson back into form would be a big help, too. The Titans need to run the football well, especially if Locker starts, to get back into the playoffs.
Carolina Panthers
If the Panthers can add some help on defense and another playmaker on offense for Cam Newton, Carolina could be a serious dark-horse candidate for a playoff spot in 2012.
The offense should once again be dangerous, and it's hard to imagine how good Newton could be with an offseason of learning more about the quarterback position.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders won't have the luxury of adding a first-round pick, which hurts the progression of their still-improving roster. But they'll finally get healthy, and there no longer should be a rust factor for veteran quarterback Carson Palmer.
If Oakland can add a player or two in the secondary, they should be an early favorite to win the AFC West.
