Is Now the First Time WWE's Champions Are Really the Best in the World?

The WWE Championship is synonymous with being the best in the business. Generally, the people holding the belt have worked for a long time to earn it, with a few minor exceptions like Brock Lesnar and Sheamus who were elevated very quickly to the title.

Being one of the top two guys in WWE is a demanding position to be in, as you are expected to represent the company at numerous events and give interviews all over the place.

But there is one question that must be asked—is now the first time WWE's champions are the best in the world?

CM Punk will tell everyone he is, and Daniel Bryan was known as the best in the world long before he showed up in WWE, but do these guys actually get to make that claim?

Look at both men. Punk and Bryan are two of the most talented in-ring performers in WWE. Punk is miles ahead of Bryan in the promo department, but it would be hard to out-wrestle him.

If you ask 100 people who the best pro wrestler in the world is, you will probably have about 20 different answers. Guys from Japan, Europe and ROH will also tell you that WWE is not necessarily the home of the best wrestling.

Guys in TNA would also argue that the world's best is in WWE.

As far as pure wrestling ability goes, it would be difficult to find two guys who could measure up to Punk and Bryan, but it is not impossible.

If we wanted to compare every WWE and World Champion to the current title holders then we would be in for a debate that would never end.

Every single person who has held the WWE title probably had an advocate for why they are the best ever, even the Miz.

Chris Jericho, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Undertaker and Hogan probably have a lot of people who would back them up as being the best.

I cannot say for sure if the two top guys in WWE are the best in the world, but I am having a hard time coming up with anyone better.
