Early Predictions For WWE SummerSlam 2023 Match Card

The WWE Universe may have its eyes fixed on the 2023 edition of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, but SummerSlam is the company's second-largest show of the year, and star power needs to saturate the card.

With the August 5 event highlighting some of the biggest names in the sport, including Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey, it is setting up to be the biggest spectacle of the summer.

Here are the early predictions for the August pay-per-view.

Brock Lesnar v. Cody Rhodes

Regardless of whether you believe Rhodes should have won the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39 or not, the key to following up on his loss was to keep his momentum rolling.

A feud against Lesnar shows how much faith WWE Creative has in the talented Superstar, but challenging The Beast Incarnate doesn't always equate to a victory in the storyline.

As things stand, both men have earned a win, and a rubber match would be the perfect addition to the SummerSlam card at Ford Field in Detroit.

For Rhodes to continue his storyline as the man who will eventually dethrone Roman Reigns, he must defeat Lesnar at the August PPV.

Lesnar is legitimately one of the toughest humans ever to step foot in a WWE ring, and beating him as clean as possible in the middle of the ring would improve Rhodes' credibility among hardcore and casual fans alike.

It's not often the WWE Universe gets to see The Beast fall in defeat, so Rhodes not only standing toe-to-toe with Lesnar but also defeating him would be the ultimate way to get back on track after his 'Mania loss in April.

Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler Host Open Challenge

One of the most important storylines that will develop on the road to SummerSlam should be the rise to prominence of new women's tag team champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.

They are two of the most physically intimidating Superstars in women's wrestling and even more devastating as a team. The problem is a lack of depth in the division has people confused about the future.

"Well, the lack of competition is really the problem," Rousey told Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post. "I mean, we want to be the most active champions out there. I want to be able to defend this title every week and even twice a week on both SmackDown and Raw."

At SummerSlam, Rousey and Baszler should hit the ring and cut a scathing promo about WWE and the lack of respect for the women, only to issue an open challenge for anyone willing to step in the ring with them.

To the surprise of the fans, Charlotte Flair should hit the stage to run down the champions, only for Rousey and Baszler to point out she doesn't have any backup.

When new music hits, the champions should look perplexed until Cora Jade makes her main roster debut and walks to the ring with The Queen.

If WWE Creative lets the four women compete in a 15-minute battle and lets the faces earn the stunning victory, fans will be reinvested in the division.
