2011-12 NFL Wild Card Round: Fantasy Football QB Rankings

Ryan LesterJun 6, 2018

Here is the Lester's Legends fantasy football quarterback rankings for the Wild Card Round.

1. Drew Brees vs. Detroit Lions: The Lions just got picked apart by Aaron Rodgers’ backup (Matt Flynn) for 480 yards and six TD passes. Brees only set the NFL record with 5,476 yards and threw 46 TDs. He has 14 TDs in his past three games. Brees and the Saints are humming.

2. Matthew Stafford at New Orleans Saints: I’m expecting a shootout in New Orleans and Stafford should put up monster numbers as well. He’s averaging 383.8 yards and 3.0 TDs in his past five games. He threw for 408 against the Saints in Week 13. I’m expecting a one-and-done for Stafford, which lessens his overall value, but if you’re looking to add Rodgers or Tom Brady next week, Stafford is a great option.

3. Eli Manning vs. Atlanta Falcons: I give Eli a slight edge over Ryan because he’s delivered in big games all year and knows how to get it done in the playoffs. He’s also playing at home.

4. Matt Ryan at New York Giants: I expect Roddy White, Julio Jones and Tony Gonzalez to allow Ryan to have a real nice game. I put Ryan ahead of Eli in overall rankings because I think the Falcons will win, but I expect Turner to protect a lead, which minimizes Ryan’s pass attempts. Ryan hasn’t had to play in any cold-weather games this year, which could also play a role.

5. Ben Roethlisberger at Denver Broncos: This weekend (and overall) the AFC quarterbacks are at a much lower level. Big Ben isn’t 100 percent, but he’ll be good enough to roll. He gets the edge because of his experience, his assortment of weapons, and Mendenhall’s injury could make more of the load fall on Big Ben’s shoulders.

6. Andy Dalton at Houston Texans: While I think Houston will grind out the victory, Dalton will have the better statistical game. A.J. Green is a force. Jerome Simpson and Jermaine Gresham are solid compliments.

7. Tim Tebow vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Tebow has hit the skids. He has one TD pass vs. four INTs during the Broncos’ three-game losing streak. He didn’t top 200 yards passing in any of those games. He gets production as a runner, but that could prove difficult against the Steelers.

8. T.J. Yates vs. Cincinnati Bengals: Yates is dealing with a shoulder separation on his non-throwing arm. That concerns me some, but that’s not the reason he’s the lowest ranked QB this week. I think he’s going to be more of a game manager than the other QBs. It’s going to be a run-heavy game plan for the Texans.
