Brandon Weeden Wife: Oklahoma State's QB Lucky to Have Melanie by His Side

Jun 7, 2018

Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden is enjoying a pretty good game at the Fiesta Bowl against Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal. He went into the half with 239 yards passing and two long touchdown completions to Justin Blackmon, and he also rushed for a touchdown.

But nobody really cares about Weeden's life on the field right now. Such things seem decidedly irrelevant after the nation caught a glimpse of Weeden's lovely wife, Melanie, right before the end of the half.

Hats off to ESPN's camera crew for being on top of things.

So what exactly do we know about Melanie Weeden?

Actually, not a whole heck of a lot. Weeden's Wikipedia page claims Melanie and Brandon have been married since 2009, and that, naturally, they live in Stillwater. Beyond that, details of their life together are scarce.

But courtesy of AZCentral.com, we do know that Melanie stuck by Weeden's side when he decided to give up his baseball career in 2007 to give college football a shot.

"I didn't think he was being serious," Melanie said. "He's been home less than a week, not time to even digest baseball was over. I thought he'd lost his mind. I guess I need to learn to trust him."

As it turns out, choosing to give college football a shot wasn't exactly crazy. Though the 28-year-old Weeden is a little old for a college quarterback, his production at Oklahoma State and the skills he brings to the table have put him on the NFL radar, which means that Weeden will soon be cashing a check from a professional sports league once again.

Of course, Melanie didn't know things were going to pan out this way in 2009. Despite the fact she had reservations about Weeden's decision to play college football, she stuck by him.

No wonder Weeden decided he wanted to marry her. Any woman who will stick by you after you give up a professional baseball career is a keeper.

We should all be so lucky...
