Montee Ball Video: Watch Wisconsin RB's Failed Hurdle Attempt in Rose Bowl
Something tells me Montee Ball is going to be feeling Monday's Rose Bowl game for a long time.
I'm not saying that because Wisconsin lost to Oregon 45-38. I'm saying it because Ball did something utterly stupid that he probably shouldn't have done.
If you're at all curious what the heck I'm talking about, you need to watch the above video clip. In it, you'll see Ball take the handoff from Russell Wilson and explode through the first level of Oregon's defense.
When it came time to negotiate the second level of Oregon's defense, Ball decided to leave his feet in a LeGarrette Blount-like hurdle.
Sadly, Ball couldn't jump quite high enough. Instead, he jumped just enough to get a silver helmet right in the groin.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that's probably not what Ball had in mind. He was going for the end zone, but he got a hard object to the tender zone.
Amazingly, Ball seemed no worse for wear when he got up off the deck. He went on to finish the game with 164 yards rushing and a touchdown on 32 carries. Not a bad day for the Heisman Trophy finalist.
Be that as it may, Ball should probably stay on his feet the next time he approaches a defender. A guy his size should be truck-sticking safeties, not trying to leap them in a single bound.
That's a task for Robert Griffin III, hence the socks.
Thus concludes today's "You shouldn't'a done that!" finger wagging.
