Fiesta Bowl 2012: Huge Game Would Make Justin Blackmon Top-3 Pick
Justin Blackmon needs a big game to improve his draft stock.
Right now, he is hanging around the top of the draft. Scouts Inc. has him ranked 10th overall, but he's the top-ranked receiver.
With a big game against Stanford, he would vault himself into the top three.
Andrew Luck is clearly going No. 1, and Matt Kalil seems to be going either second or third. Now, can Blackmon sneak into that other spot?
If he has a huge game tonight, he definitely will.
Pundits have questioned his ability to dominate at the next level. He has all the tools of a great wide receiver, but he will not be able to rely on athleticism in the NFL.
Everyone in the NFL is a spectacular athlete. Accordingly, Blackmon will need to work hard and get himself open in order to make big plays.
NFL scouts want to see that.
If he has a huge game against Stanford, you can be sure that scouts will trust what they see in Blackmon.
There is no doubting his hands or his football IQ. However, they can still doubt his ability to get open and make big plays.
With a huge game Blackmon would solidify himself as the biggest playmaker in the draft. Subsequently, you can be sure that the St. Louis Rams or Minnesota Vikings will pick him, making him a top-three pick.
