NBA Trade Rumors: Kings Would be Foolish To Deal DeMarcus Cousins
With all the trade talk around DeMarcus Cousins, I think the Sacramento Kings need to stop being so foolish and get him back in the lineup.
He demanded a trade, which is the reason he was benched, according to coach Paul Westphal.
Then, according to Yahoo! Sports, the Kings won't trade Cousins. That's a good decision.
However, trade talks are still happening and teams are apparently "low balling" the Kings, especially because of his absence from the team.
Meanwhile, Cousins is denying everything on Twitter, saying, "Dnt listen to everything u hear."
So, now the Kings must decide whether or not to trade Cousins.
It's an easy decision: don't trade him.
Cousins is a very good young center, and he seems rejuvenated this year. He lost a lot of weight during the lockout and changed his workout regimen.
With that new sense of purpose, Cousins is ready to become a top center in the league. There aren't too many great centers, so Cousins could make himself one.
His rebounding total is over 11 this year and he will start scoring a bit more as he hits a higher percentage of his shots. Essentially, he will be averaging a double-double all year.
Not to mention, he's only 21 years old.
Even though pundits question his character issues, teammates love him. He's known as a funny guy, but more importantly, he's matured.
Forward Donte Green talked about Cousins before the season, saying, "He has calmed down a lot since last year...I think he's ready and looks good."
Now, the Kings are talking about trading this guy?
Not a smart move.
Cousins is a good center, and he will only get better. The Kings should get him back in the lineup and off the trade block.
To trade him would be foolish.
