Brandon Boykin Video: Watch Bulldogs' Electrifying Punt Return in Outback Bowl

People always say that the SEC is the best conference in the nation because of their superior speed.

Monday’s Outback Bowl is the perfect example.

The No. 16 Georgia Bulldogs are in complete control over the No. 17 Michigan State Spartans 16-0 at the half, and they can thank Brandon Boykin for busting the game wide open.

The Bulldogs return man caught a 49-yard punt from Mike Sadler with Spartans all over him. He caught the ball over his shoulder and immediately changed direction to reverse the field. He avoids one tackler and makes a terrific cut up the field.

Then the speed takes over.

Boykin turns on the jets and begins to juke nearly half the Spartans punt return unit, and then it’s over. With the aid of some quality down field blocking, Boykin burns everyone and it’s a touchdown.

Speed kills. 

By the time he reaches the end zone there is a 10-yard gap between Boykin and the rest of the field. If the Big 10 ever plans on competing for national championships, they have to address this glaring issue. Bulk does not beat speed and we are minded as much every year in these bowl games.

As for Boykin, he just solidified his place in the top two rounds of the NFL draft. The senior is currently rated as the fifth best corner in his class and has proven to be a deadly return man.  The Bulldogs had the third best pass defense in the SEC thanks in large part to Boykin’s terrific coverage.
