Cody Rhodes Finishes His Story
4 of 4
From the moment he addressed fans on the Raw after WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been laser-focused on one particular goal: capturing the WWE Championship that eluded his legendary father, the late "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes.
Even after returning from a devastating torn pectoral muscle that sidelined him for eight months and winning the Royal Rumble, The American Nightmare has remained adamant that his journey ends with capturing the top prize in the industry.
"Finish the story" has become a rallying cry of sorts for Rhodes, who has been on the roll of a lifetime as he prepares to battle Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of wrestling's biggest event.
He will do just that, finishing his story by defeating The Tribal Chief and ending a reign of dominance that began on August 30, 2020. In doing so, he will ascend to the top of an industry that appeared to have left him behind when he departed WWE in 2016.
Instead of allowing professional frustration to derail him from achieving his goals and aspirations, Rhodes put in the work, reinventing himself on the indie scene before joining Bullet Club, linking up with The Elite's Kenny Omega, Young Bucks and "Hangman" Adam Page and revolutionizing the industry by way of the creation of All Elite Wrestling.
Life came full circle when he had the opportunity to leave behind a company he considered his baby to return home to WWE and pursue the title that has consistently stayed just out of reach from his legendary family.
That pursuit culminates inside SoFi Stadium with the biggest win of Rhodes' career, in a life-defining moment that will catapult him to the upper echelon of WWE Superstars and ensure he lives forever in the annals of wrestling history.
