Men's NCAA Championship 2023: Updated Title Odds Going into Final Four

Joel ReuterMar 30, 2023

The 2023 men's NCAA tournament field has been trimmed to the Final Four, and the last perfect bracket was ripped up long, long ago in one of the wildest March Madness fields in recent memory.

Heading into the season's final three games, the teams left standing in the hunt for a national championship are No. 4 seed UConn, No. 5 seed San Diego State, No. 5 seed Miami and No. 9 seed Florida Atlantic.

Here, you'll find the latest title odds for each of those teams, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook, along with a breakdown of what they've done to get to this point and what they still need to do to advance to Monday's championship game.

Florida Atlantic: +650

In a wild East Region that saw No. 1 seed Purdue get upset in the first round and No. 2 seed Marquette sent packing in the second round, the Florida Atlantic Owls have reached the Final Four in the same year they recorded their first-ever NCAA tournament win.

The biggest strength of this team is its depth. FAU's nine-man rotation is largely interchangeable, led by the sophomore trio of Johnell Davis, Alijah Martin and Vladislav Goldin.

Davis turned in the best individual performance of the tournament for the Owls against Fairleigh Dickinson in the second round, filling up the box score with 29 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and five steals.

However, the most impactful performance may have come from Goldin against Kansas State in the Elite Eight. The 7'1" center tallied 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 13 rebounds, and he looked like the best player on the floor for stretches.

This group ground out a win against a terrific Tennessee defense and then turned around and beat an uptempo Kansas State team despite a 30-point effort from Markquis Nowell. No style of play or situation is going to take them by surprise.

Miami: +450

The Miami Hurricanes overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half against Texas in the Elite Eight to punch their ticket to the Final Four for the first time since in school history.

ACC Player of the Year Isaiah Wong has been the team's biggest star all season, averaging 16.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 38.1 percent from three-point range on 155 attempts.

However, the supporting cast is the reason why Miami is still playing.

Nijel Pack is averaging 18.5 points per game in the NCAA tournament, including a season-high 26 points and 7-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc against No. 1 seed Houston in the Sweet 16.

Meanwhile, forward Norchad Omier is averaging 10.5 points and 13.3 rebounds during March Madness, while Jordan Miller was the star against Texas in the Elite Eight with a game-high 27 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field and 13-of-13 from the free-throw line.

The Hurricanes have the offensive firepower to keep pace with the UConn Huskies in the Final Four, but can a group that ranks No. 104 in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency do enough to slow them down?

San Diego State: +400

The San Diego State Aztecs are 22-0 when they hold their opponents to 65 or fewer points. That includes all four of their NCAA tournament victories.

They were the higher-seeded team against No. 12 College of Charleston and No. 13 Furman in their first two games, but they collided with top overall No. 1 seed Alabama in the Sweet 16. They held a Crimson Tide that averaged 81.8 points per game leading up to that point to only 64 points on 32.4 percent shooting.

That stingy defense will be the key to SDSU's continued success heading into the Final Four.

The Aztecs squeaked out a 57-56 win over Creighton in the Elite Eight even though they shot only 37.9 percent from the floor and 3-of-13 from beyond the arc. Their ability to make teams uncomfortable by controlling the tempo has been their calling card all year.

Matt Bradley (17 points vs. College of Charleston), Micah Parrish (16 points vs. Furman), Darrion Trammell (21 points vs. Alabama) and Lamont Butler (18 points vs. Creighton) have each taken a turn leading the Aztecs in scoring through four NCAA tournament games.

The UConn Huskies are making their sixth appearance in the Final Four and looking to claim their fifth national championship, while the other three teams left standing are all in the Final Four for the first time.

They have also put together one of the most dominant runs in NCAA tournament history thus far. They're only the seventh team in history to win each of their first four games en route to the Final Four by 15 or more points, according to Paul Myerberg of USA Today.

The Huskies' 82-54 victory over Gonzaga in the Elite Eight was one of the most lopsided games of the 2023 NCAA tournament. The only bigger margin of victory came from No. 2 seed UCLA in an 86-53 first-round blowout of No. 15 seed UNC Asheville.

The Huskies offense has been firing on all cylinders, but equally impressive was their defense clamping down on a Gonzaga team that entered the game leading the nation in scoring (86.1 PPG) and ranked No. 1 in KenPom's adjusted offensive efficiency.

With Jordan Hawkins doing damage on the perimeter, Adama Sanogo a nightly threat for a double-double, Andre Jackson Jr. coming off a season-high 10-assist game, Tristen Newton providing senior leadership and freshmen Adam Karaban and Donovan Clingan both making an impact when given the opportunity, UConn is the most talented team left standing.

On-paper talent has rarely matted in the 2023 NCAA tournament, but the Huskies are rolling right now and look like the squad to beat.
