Alistair Overeem vs. JDS and a Power Ranking of Every Upcoming UFC Title Fight

G DJun 7, 2018

With 2011 ending with a bang, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will begin to look forward into the New Year with hopes of making it the most memorable year of all time.

2012 will bring its fair share of electrifying fights, knockout finishes and grueling submissions.

Also coming with the New Year will be the highly-anticipated title fights when champions put their titles up for grabs. Already set in stone are five title fights which are slated to occur in the upcoming months.

So, the following slides are a power ranking of every upcoming UFC title fight. Let's take a look.

5. Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit

1 of 5

Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit is already one of the most anticipated bouts of the New Year, as the two are slated to square off at UFC 143.

This welterweight showdown could potentially have a higher ranking if it weren't for the interim title.

However, Diaz and Condit promise to provide fans with exciting entertainment as one of the greatest boxers of all time will attempt to finish off the well-rounded "Natural Born Killer."

4. Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes

2 of 5

Many believe Jose Aldo could be the first champion to fall to the hands of defeat, as he'll be taking on Chad Mendes at UFC 142 in Brazil.

Aldo brings his exceptional stand-up and explosiveness to the table, as he's been nearly unbeatable since picking up the sport of MMA years ago.

However, Aldo's style will clash with that of Mendes, as he's yet to face a better wrestler.

3. Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber

3 of 5

It was recently announced that Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber will take part in an upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.

In other words, the two will meet and battle it out for the bantamweight title.

Cruz and Faber's resume is currently even at 1-1 a piece, resulting in the winner not only taking home UFC gold, but the better record as well.

2. Frankie Edgar vs. Benson Henderson

4 of 5

In the main event of the evening at UFC 144, Frankie Edgar will look to wear his heart on his sleeve and successfully defend his treasured lightweight title.

However, Edgar may be taking on the toughest opponent of his career in Benson Henderson.

Something will have to give, as Edgar is arguably the toughest fighter in MMA today, while Henderson is certainly one of the strongest pound-for-pound martial artists.

1. Junior Dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem

5 of 5

While the date has yet to be established, Junior Dos Santos will, in fact, be putting his heavyweight title up for grabs against Alistair Overeem.

Overeem proved he's worth the hype in his first-round-knockout victory over Brock Lesnar at UFC 141.

However, Overeem will face a fighter with similar striking skills, as Dos Santos is one of the hardest hitting boxers in MMA today.

Something must give in this heavyweight showdown.
