January Transfer Rumors: 11 Biggest Stories of the Week
Moves are already happening across the footballing world as the winter transfer window has already been open for nearly 48 hours.
As the fixture results have been all over the place in the last few weeks with clubs trying to jockey for position in both the league table and the transfer market, it has seen this January set up for a great bit of movement.
The rumors are flying around hot and heavy and we take a look at some of those of note over the first few days of the winter window.
Carlos Tevez to AC Milan
1 of 11While it remains to be seen if AC Milan and Manchester City can agree on any terms for the loan, sale or loan then sale of Carlos Tevez to the Rossoneri, the Italian's Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in the press pushing for the move.
Ibrahimovic is no stranger to controversy in terms of pushing for moves, including his own away from Barcelona, and was quoted by ESPNsoccernet as saying:
"For me, Tevez is a great player. I don't know how the situation is and if he's coming, if he's not coming. But he's a great player and if he comes for sure he will do a great job for us. It would be an extra weapon for us. Everybody knows what kind of a player Tevez is. He's a fantastic player and he will bring extra quality to the team.
"
It continues to be a debate as to whether the frustrated Argentine will be allowed to move to Italy.
Joe Cole to Lille
2 of 11Earlier in the 2011-12 season Liverpool's on loan winger Joe Cole was not thought to be staying in France on a permanent basis. However, recent reports have indicated that he could be staying at the defending Ligue 1 Orange champions.
A permanent move could be the best for all parties as Lille have been able to utilize Cole all season and a move could allow the Reds to offload his wages as well as bring in some additional funds for the summer window.
Federico Macheda to Queens Park Rangers
3 of 11The Daily Express has linked Queens Park Rangers with a loan swoop for Manchester United's Italian U21 international Federico Macheda. Which was confirmed on field as he debuted for the Hoops in their 1-2 loss to Norwich City on January 2, 2012.
The youngster burst onto the scene with several performances for the Red Devils as a substitute in the 2009-10 season before spending much of last season on a disappointing loan to Italian Serie A side Sampdoria who where surprisingly relegated.
Macheda needs time to develop in the English game and a move to QPR could see him get more regular playing time.
Kieran Richardson to Arsenal
4 of 11The Daily Mirror has reported that Arsenal could be in for a shock move to take Sunderland left defender and winger Kieran Richardson to the Emirates.
Richardson's sale would provide Sunderland with funds for more rebuilding and give Arsene Wenger the much needed cover at the back they require due to injuries.
Ibrahim Sissoko to Tottenham
5 of 11Portuguese Liga's Academia is the current home to 20-year-old Ivory Coast international Ibrahim Sissoko.
The player is the younger brother of former Liverpool star Mohamed Sissoko and has been putting in some impressive performances in Portugal.
Harry Redknapp and Tottenham Hotspur look to be his most recent followers as the London club are believed to have joined the race for his signature, according to TalkSport.
David Beckham to Stay in LA
6 of 11The Daily Mirror has broken news that David Beckham is set to remain in Los Angeles after having held new contract talks with the Galaxy.
Beckham was believed to be headed for a new life in Paris with Paris Saint Germain as they look to rebuild the club to its former glory.
However, despite a phone call from PSG's new boss Carlo Ancelotti, Becks looks set to stay in the United States.
Nicky Maynard to Wolverhampton Wanderers
7 of 11Mic McCarthy has been leaning on the goal production of 24-year-old Scotland striker Steven Fletcher all season but looks to be ready to splash a little cash to get some reinforcements.
Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard is a believed target of a £1 million move to the Molineux.
Aly Cissokho to Newcastle United
8 of 11Lyon wing back Aly Cissokho was a target of several major clubs during the summer and now has admitted his desire to leave France and make the next step in his career.
Goal.com report that Newcastle United look to be interested in his services with England being the next stop he would like to make.
Steven Peinaar to Sunderland
9 of 11Before moving to Tottenham Hotspur, Steven Pienaar was a near automatic starter for David Moyes and the Everton Toffee's.
However, his £3 million move has been a disaster as he played more games for Everton in the last half of 2010 than he has since moving to London altogether.
It now looks like Sunderland could make a £5 million move for the player, according to Goal.com, as he looks to return to a side where he fits into the plans.
Dimitar Berbatov to Stay at United
10 of 11Following a few major performances for Manchester United, Dimitar Berbatov has fired his way back into Sir Alex Ferguson's plans with six goals in the last three games for the Red Devils.
Berbatov is now their second-leading scorer and has hardly seen the pitch this season.
Goal.com reports that he is now set for a contract extension at Old Trafford.
Ryo Miyaichi Loan to Fulham
11 of 11The Daily Mirror has reported that Arsenal are set to allow 19-year-old Japanese winger Ryo Miyaichi go on loan to Fulham.
Miyaichi had a loan spell in the Dutch Eredivisie with Feyenoord Rotterdam last season, but he is yet to make a breakthrough to the Gunners first team.
