January Transfer Rumours: 8 Teams Most Likely to Land Carlos Tevez

Vijay MuraliJan 2, 2012

Manchester City are currently one of the strongest teams in the world, and they will be challenging for the Premiership title this season. They were eliminated in the group stages of the Champions League this season, but still have a great chance of winning the Premiership and have some excellent, in-form players like David Silva and Mario Balotelli.

In the last couple of seasons, they were very reliant on Carlos Tevez for their goals, but that has changed this season with Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli all scoring a number of goals.

However, the situation has taken a turn for the worse personally for Carlos Tevez as he has not featured much for City this recently despite being an integral member of the team last season. Tevez had a controversy with Roberto Mancini in the away Champions League game against Bayern Munich and has not featured for City since.

He has also not been present in Manchester for training, and this has inevitably led to speculation that he might leave the club in the January transfer window.

Here are eight clubs who could be most interested in signing the Argentinean striker.

AC Milan

1 of 8

AC Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and they could be interested in Carlos Tevez in the January transfer window. Juventus and AC Milan could be involved in an engrossing title race this season, and the signing of Tevez could be important for Milan.

AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano has had to endure a difficult time and has missed games due to his health concerns, and Tevez could provide quality depth to the squad. Though Tevez has had his controversies, it cannot be denied that he is a quality striker and has the ability to make a difference.

If AC Milan are able to strike a deal with Manchester City for a loan or a permanent transfer, it could be an intelligent acquisition by the current Serie A champions.

Inter Milan

2 of 8

Inter Milan have had a very difficult start to their season, but since the appointment of Claudio Ranieri they have managed to attain some stability and some consistency in their results. They do have the chance to qualify for the Champions League again if they can manage to have an excellent second half of the season.

Carlos Tevez is certainly a player who could provide the required impetus to the team. Tevez is a player who can be trusted with the responsibility of scoring goals because of his undeniable quality. He could form a good partnership with the likes of Diego Forlan or Pazzini and could help Inter score more freely as they enter a very important second half of the season.

Tottenham

3 of 8

Tottenham are another club who have been linked with the Argentine forward because the Manchester City striker could help them attain a place in the Champions League next season. The Spurs have had an excellent start to their season, and the main reason for that is the excellent form of Emmanuel Adebayor who is on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

Adebayor's wages could be a problem for a permanent move to Tottenham, which is why they could look for other alternatives, though the wages of Tevez at City are also very high. However, Tevez is a player who could boost their hopes of winning the league considering that they already have the possibility of doing so this season.

It would be a marquee signing which could convince everyone of their ambitions, but the real question is whether City will sell to their rivals and if Tevez does indeed want to stay in England.

Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors are also another club that has the possibility of landing Carlos Tevez in the January transfer window because of the player's preference to return to his country. Tevez had an immensely successful spell early in his career at Boca Juniors and could want to return there in order to enjoy his football without too much of a spotlight on him.

However, it depends on whether or not they can agree to a deal with Manchester City whose demands could outweigh Boca Juniors' financial capability. It could be a move that is good for Tevez, but the question is whether City will agree to the deal especially if there are other clubs with more financial resources.

Paris St. Germain

5 of 8

PSG have recently appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their manager, and they are fully focused on winning the league title this season, thereby entering the Champions League in the next season. The French club have the financial capability to sign some of the best players in the world, as they demonstrated with their summer signing of Javier Pastore.

They have several excellent players, but a player like Tevez will obviously add quality to the team. In Ancelotti they have a manager of the highest quality who can help establish the club as one of the best in Europe, and they will look to add world-class players to help them in achieving their ambitions.

PSG have the financial capability to strike a deal with Manchester City, and City are likely to have no problems in selling to the French club. However, the question regarding this move is whether Tevez will be interested in a move to the French league and will accept even if the fee is already agreed upon.

Corinthians

6 of 8

Brazilian club Corinthians were linked with a move by Carlos Tevez in the summer but failed to negotiate a deal for the Argentine striker before the close of the transfer window. However, the transfer fee of Tevez is bound to reduce after his recent controversies at City, and it is perhaps possible for the Brazilian club to conclude a deal in January.

Tevez might be interested in a move to Brazil because he will be closer to his home country and will also get to be away from the spotlight, but the question is whether Manchester City can agree to a deal with Corinthians regarding the transfer fee.

Juventus

7 of 8

Juventus have had an excellent first half of the season, and they have a good chance of winning the Serie A this season under Antonio Conte. They have made some intelligent acquisitions in the summer like Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, but they could look to make a marquee signing in the January transfer window to boost their chances of winning the league title.

Though Carlos Tevez is a controversial player, he has the quality to help Juventus win the league title, and he will certainly want to prove a point to his current employers regarding his undeniable quality.

Juventus will benefit from the experience of a player like Tevez and if the Argentine striker does settle well at the club, he is sure to guarantee plenty of goals. It might be a tricky decision regarding Tevez, but he remains a quality player and Juventus will certainly want to win the title after a relatively long spell of not being at the top, especially for a club of their stature.

Real Madrid

8 of 8

Real Madrid are another club which have been linked with a move for the Argentina international and though it does seem relatively unlikely considering the form of Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema, one cannot rule out the possibility of them targeting Carlos Tevez. It is clear from the past seasons that Jose Mourinho is a manager who values experienced players in the team, and he does expect his players to show complete commitment when on the pitch.

Tevez is a player who works incredibly hard when he is on the pitch and along with that, he has undoubted quality on the ball and can clinically finish when provided with opportunities. Madrid are desperate to defeat Barcelona in the title race and establish their dominance in Spain and Europe. Tevez is a player who will bring something different to the side, and his versatility will also increase the number of options for the manager as they look to win titles in the near future.
