Logan Paul vs. Seth Rollins Has Steal-the-Show Potential at WrestleMania amid Rumors

Doc-Chris MuellerFeb 24, 2023

Saturday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view featured some great action and memorable moments, but one surprise appearance looks to be setting up a match at WrestleMania 39.

As Seth Rollins was poised to win the United States Championship from Austin Theory, he was shocked to see Logan Paul enter the Chamber before the officials had a chance to lock the door following the elimination of Montez Ford.

Paul proceeded to hit The Visionary with a slingshot lariat that allowed Theory to score the win and ultimately retain the title.

The following night on Raw, Rollins did not hide the fact that he was upset and looking for redemption against The Miz's former friend.

While nothing is official yet, this all seems to be leading to a showdown at SoFi Stadium on April 1-2. Let's examine why this match could end up being one of the best things we see across the weekend.

Seth Rollins Is the Best He's Ever Been

1 of 4

Roman Reigns talks a lot about how he is in the God Mode phase of his career, but if anyone else would be able to make that claim, it's Seth "Freakin" Rollins.

Not only has he been putting on some of the best matches of his career in recent years, but he has also found the best version of his character along the way.

The former black-clad Shield member has embraced his fashionista side and become The Drip King. Whether it's a suit with a wild print or a giant pair of red boots, he always makes sure he has the most memorable look on any show.

We have also seen the 36-year-old find his comfort zone on the mic. His laugh is still something some fans and wrestlers mock on occasion, such as Kevin Owens in a recent backstage interaction. However, whenever Rollins picks up a microphone, the crowd is all ears.

The promos and exchanges leading to this match are going to have to be carried by the WWE Superstar, but Paul has enough understanding of how to perform to hold his own in a verbal battle.

Right now, Rollins is one of the most popular stars in the company. The fans sing along with his entrance music, laugh at all of his jokes and give him a warm welcome in every city he visits.

He has earned the love and admiration of the WWE Universe through years of hard work; first on the indie scene and later in WWE itself. He has longtime followers who have known him since he was Tyler Black, and he has gained millions of new followers around the world as Rollins.

He is one of the best big-match performers in the business because he understands what it takes to put on a compelling contest that stands on its own and serves a larger story at the same time.

Even though Rollins is the veteran in this situation, he is going to do what is necessary to make Paul look good if their clash is made official.

Logan Paul Is Putting in the Work

Paul is one of the most divisive and controversial celebrities WWE has brought in, but the way he has picked up the business so quickly has earned him a measure of respect from the WWE Universe.

Some celebs come in to gain exposure or a quick payday, but every once in a while, you can tell somebody really wants to be there because they do the necessary work to ensure they respect the industry and give the crowd the most bang for its buck.

Take Bad Bunny, for example. Every time he is on WWE television, you can see in his eyes how excited he is to be part of this world he has admired since he was a child. The same can be said about Paul.

Not only does the 27-year-old seem enthusiastic to be part of the show, but you can also see how hard he has worked to train himself for this kind of activity. He's in great shape, but more importantly, he is working to learn the ins and outs of being a wrestler.

While nobody is going to accuse him of being on the same technical level as a guy like Chad Gable, the fact that Paul is miles ahead of where he should be with just a few matches under his belt is truly impressive.

Even though it might not have made sense, the spot he performed during the Royal Rumble with Ricochet is just one example of how he is going the extra mile compared to 99 percent of celebrities who have stepped into the ring.

Paul is going to make sure he doesn't embarrass himself or Rollins at WrestleMania because he will be prepared for the performance of a lifetime. It's how he has entered every previous match he's had, so there's no reason to believe it will be any different this time.

Both Men Are Willing to Take Big Risks

3 of 4

One thing that has been a hallmark of Paul's WWE career so far is his willingness to put his body on the line for a big spot.

We saw him springboard into Ricochet during the Rumble, but his biggest risk to date is the huge elbow drop he hit from the top turnbuckle to put Roman Reigns through an announcer's table at Crown Jewel in November.

The YouTuber has stepped up his game in every appearance, so there is a good chance we see another wild stunt at WrestleMania.

When it comes to Rollins, we all know he is willing to do whatever it takes to steal the show. He's been doing it for years.

The Visionary might not focus solely on being a high-flyer, but he is more than capable of taking flight when the need arises.

With him and Paul both being unafraid to put their bodies in harm's way, this will probably be one of the most spot-heavy celebrity matches ever.

Both Men Know Their Role

Rollins is one of the most popular stars on the roster, so he has been operating as a babyface by default despite not changing much about himself from when he was a heel.

Heading into this match, Paul is going to be seen as the antagonist, especially since he cost The Visionary a chance to win the U.S. title at Elimination Chamber.

Being a divisive social media celebrity means Paul is used to his fair share of taunting and hate, so he is going to be perfectly at home playing the bad guy in this scenario.

While it's not always necessary, having a clear heel and babyface tends to lead to the best matches. The crowd has an easy choice in picking who to cheer, and the wrestlers can use techniques to generate heat that have worked for generations.

When Paul enters SoFi Stadium at WrestleMania, he will be met with a cacophony of boos from Rollins' admirers, and he is going to soak it in and use it to fuel his performance.

Both of these guys will make sure their contest doesn't get lost in the shuffle. 'Mania weekend is long and usually full of memorable moments, but something tells us this bout will stand out when the dust settles.
