NBA Rising Stars Game 2023: Full Rosters for All 4 Teams Announced After Draft

Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and Deron Williams have 11 combined All-Star Game selections on their resumes, but their general manager skills were put to the test Tuesday.

That is because they drafted three of the four teams that will compete in the 2023 Jordan Rising Stars tournament as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City. The trio of former NBA players who will coach in the event drafted from the pool of rookie and second-year players, while Jason Terry will coach the fourth team that is made up of G League players.

Here is a look at the rosters after the draft:

The tournament will take place Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. ET and air on TNT.

As Brian Martin of NBA.com explained, this is the second consecutive year the Rising Stars event will be a three-game tournament. The two semifinal contests will be played to a target score of 40, while the championship game between the two winners will be played to a target score of 25.

One of the most intriguing storylines for this tournament will be Scoot Henderson's chance to go up against NBA players.

The G League star was the No. 2 overall pick in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman, and he can test his skills against some of the best young players in the league on a national stage.

The 19-year-old point guard is perhaps talented enough to merit No. 1 overall pick consideration in most draft years, but Victor Wembanyama is one of the best prospects in recent NBA history and will surely go No. 1 overall come draft day on June 22.

Gasol's team also stands out, as it features the reigning Rookie of the Year in Scottie Barnes and the leading candidate for the award this season in Paolo Banchero. Throw in Bennedict Mathurin, and there is no shortage of talent at the former Los Angeles Lakers big man's disposal.

Whether he can coach them to a title remains to be seen, but he would surely enjoy the bragging rights over his fellow former NBA players if he did.
