WWE Raw Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from February 6

Doc-Chris MuellerFeb 6, 2023

Welcome to Bleacher Report's coverage and recap of WWE Raw on February 6.

After weeks of waiting, we finally got to see Bayley face Becky Lynch inside a steel cage this week. The longtime rivals were supposed to have this match during Raw XXX, but it was bumped from the show due to timing issues.

We also saw more Elimination Chamber qualifying matches for both the men's and women's divisions.

Candice LeRae, Piper Niven, Carmella and Mia Yim battled in a Fatal 4-Way for a spot in the women's bout while the men had two singles contests. Montez Ford faced Elias, and Damian Priest took on Angelo Dawkins.

Let's take a look at everything that happened on Monday's Raw.

Angelo Dawkins vs. Damian Priest

1 of 7

Edge and Beth Phoenix opened up the show to a huge ovation.

We saw a recap of what The Judgment Day did at Extreme Rules and The Rated-R Superstar's return during the men's Royal Rumble match.

Naturally, the heel faction came out to respond.

This segment took a long time to get to Phoenix laying out a challenge for a mixed tag match at Elimination Chamber with Edge and herself vs. Rhea Ripley and Finn Bálor.

As The Judgment Day began to circle the ring for an attack, The Street Profits came out to make the save.

This led into the first match between Priest and Dawkins for a spot inside the men's Chamber match on February 18. It got started during the break, so by the time we returned, Priest had the upper hand. Dawkins turned things around and pounced The Archer of Infamy right on top of the announce table.

The opening promo and this match took up more than 30 minutes of the first hour of Raw, but the crowd was into it the whole time.

Edge and Phoenix are popular enough to keep the WWE Universe invested, and the fight between Dawkins and Priest was a high-energy battle between two big men who can also move with a lot of speed.

Despite some big moves from Dawkins, Priest was able to secure the win to earn his spot inside the men's Elimination Chamber.

Winner: Damian Priest

Grade: B+

Notable Moments and Observations

  • The way Ford came up behind Dominik Mysterio to scare him was hilarious.
  • The pounce Dawkins used to send Priest over the announce table would make Monty Brown proud.
  • The promo from Edge and Phoenix was a bit too long for what they needed to say, but that is kind of a hallmark of The Rated-R Superstar's generation. We used to get so many more long promos than we do these days.
  • Dawkins continues to improve and make a name for himself. Everyone has Ford pegged as the breakout star of their team, but Dawkins is going to be just fine on his own.
  • Dawkins hit a pretty nice Swanton Bomb.

Baron Corbin vs. Dexter Lumis

2 of 7

Baron Corbin took on Dexter Lumis in the second match of the night, with JBL and Johnny Gargano were in their respective corners.

Corbin attacked Lumis as he entered the ring to get an early advantage. The Tortured Artist was on defense for a long time before he began to make a comeback.

After a flurry of moves, Lumis hit a big side slam for the win.

This was a clean finish to a relatively basic match. Both men looked good with what they did. They just didn't do much.

Winner: Dexter Lumis

Grade: C-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • JBL's suits still look like they don't quite fit him properly.
  • Lumis has some of the most unique and recognizable tattoos on the roster.
  • Lumis doing a kip up into a leg drop is always a fun spot.

Carmella vs. Piper Niven vs. Mia Yim vs. Candice LeRae

3 of 7

We got a promo from Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley that ended with The Beast Incarnate taking out The All Mighty.

These two will likely meet at Elimination Chamber after Lashley signs the contract.

The next matchup was the Fatal 4-Way for a spot in the women's Chamber match. Carmella, Niven, Yim and LeRae were fighting for one of the last two spots.

Niven wiped out LeRae and Yim before scaring Mella out of the ring with a scream. The crowd showed the Scot a lot of support throughout the match, but she still seemed to be working as a heel most of the time.

This ended up being an entertaining contest with a handful of spots that popped the crowd. Niven had a great showing, but LeRae may have been the most impressive with some of her high-flying antics.

After Niven hit a cannonball to LeRae in the corner, Mella superkicked her to knock her out of the ring so she could cover The Poison Pixie for the win.

Winner: Carmella

Grade: C+

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Carmella is so much better as The Princess of Staten Island. She seems more comfortable and more charismatic.
  • Piper Niven getting her name back is going to lead to more people calling for Pete Dunne to ditch the Butch name, too.
  • Piper hitting all three women with a splash at the same time was a cool spot.
  • Corey Graves referred to Carmella as his wife, which is pretty rare. He usually plays coy about their relationship while he is on commentary.

Alpha Academy vs. Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander

4 of 7

MVP accompanied Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander to the ring for their match against Chad Gable and Otis.

Alexander and Gable started off with a fast-paced exchange that ended when the latter hit a beautiful German suplex to counter a handspring from his opponent.

Both teams had a short period of being in control, but this was all about reestablishing Alexander and Benjamin as a viable tag team.

After a decent fight, Alexander hit the Lumbar Check on Gable to score the win. MVP ran into the ring to celebrate with them.

Winners: Alexander and Benjamin

Grade: B-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • During a backstage segment with Corbin and JBL, MVP could be seen shaking hands with Benjamin and Alexander.
  • The way Gable grabbed Alexander in mid-air and hit a German suplex was so impressive, but the way he caught Alexander during a dive through the ropes was even more impressive.
  • The way Otis manhandles people is truly impressive. He looks like he lifts 200-plus pounds like it's nothing.

Asuka vs. Chelsea Green

5 of 7

Throughout the night, Chelsea Green was shown harassing Adam Pearce, so the WWE official decided to get a little payback by booking her in a match against Asuka.

The crowd gave The Empress of Tomorrow a huge pop when she came to the ring, but as soon as the bell rang, Green nailed her with a dropkick that sent her into the middle turnbuckle.

All of the women who had qualified for the women's Chamber match showed up to watch this fight as Green surprisingly dominated the early action.

She walked around the ring and addressed every woman, but that gave Asuka a chance to recover. She unloaded on her rival with a flurry of punches and kicks before putting her in a submission for the win.

This wasn't much of a contest, but it served the story to some degree. Green wasn't supposed to have much of a fighting chance here, so the way this was booked made sense, even if it wasn't particularly exciting.

Winner: Asuka

Grade: C

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Graves being vocally anti-Green was strange because he usually roots for the heels.
  • Asuka might have the coolest face paint in all of pro wrestling.

Elias vs. Montez Ford

6 of 7

After Cody Rhodes delivered a promo about his upcoming WrestleMania 39 match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, we got the final men's Chamber qualifying bout between Montez Ford and Elias.

The exchange between Paul Heyman and Rhodes was probably one of the best things we have seen on Raw in months, and Roman Reigns wasn't even part of it.

When it was time for the match, Austin Theory sat with the commentary team to watch the match for himself. Elias and Ford started with a clean lockup and break.

Elias had a bit of a power advantage, but that was offset by Ford's superior speed and agility. It had a bit of a slow start, but they picked up the pace after the break to make this a solid performance. Ford scored the win with a massive frog splash.

Winner: Montez Ford

Grade: A+ (Promo) B- (Match)

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Rhodes sounded like he lost his voice somehow.
  • The promo segment from Heyman and Rhodes was outstanding. The crowd was eating out of the palms of their hands.
  • Theory was shown arriving at the arena in what was obviously a rented Lamborghini.
  • Ford's dive over the turnbuckle is always impressive.

Bayley vs. Becky Lynch

7 of 7

The main event of the night was the steel cage match we never got to see at Raw XXX between Bayley and Becky Lynch.

Before they started throwing punches, both women talked a little trash. They made this feel like a personal fight with their promos earlier in the show, and the way they acted inside the ring furthered that narrative.

They went from 0-60 mph in no time. They threw each other into the cage and beat the life out of each other within a few minutes of the referee calling for the bell.

Both women worked their butts off to make this a cage match worthy of being a Raw main event, and they succeeded with flying colors. This was hard-hitting and well-paced. They had enough time to make this fun without feeling drawn out.

Iyo Sky climbed the side of the cage to prevent The Man from escaping while Dakota Kai threw one of her crutches into the ring. Just then, Lita's music hit, and she ran down to take out Sky and Kai to even the odds.

The WWE Hall of Famer slammed the door in Bayley's face and knocked her back into Lynch's arms for the Manhandle Slam.

The Man and Lita celebrated in the ring to end the show on a high note.

Winner: Becky Lynch

Grade: A-

Notable Moments and Observations

  • Bayley really threw her body into it when Lynch tossed her into the cage.
  • Lynch dropkicking the cage to get Bayley to lose her balance looked good, but it still seemed a weird choice when she could have just tripped The Role Model with her hands.
  • The bump Lynch took when she took the Bayley to Belly from the middle rope looked rough.
