King: Russell Wilson 'Willing to Be Coached Hard by' Sean Payton; Spoke to Drew Brees

Russell Wilson is coming off the worst season of his career, but he's reportedly hopeful that the Denver Broncos' hiring of Sean Payton as head coach will help turn things around.

According to Peter King of NBC Sports, "Wilson and [Drew] Brees have gotten to be friends, and Wilson has great admiration for him. So, Wilson's at a low point after his disastrous first year in Denver. He wanted Payton to get the job, and he's willing to be coached hard by him. Wilson has been reaching out to Brees to get a preview of coming attractions."

Wilson, 34, threw for only 3,524 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his first season with the Broncos. He completed only 60.5 percent of his passes and took a league-high 55 sacks in 15 games. His touchdowns, completion percentage and sacks were career-worst marks, and the Broncos went 4-11 in his starts (and 5-12 overall).

Payton's first order of business is getting the nine-time Pro Bowler and one-time champion back on track. It sounds as though Wilson is game for whatever tactics his new head coach has to use to get him there.
