Jon Jones Called Out by Serghei Spivac After Win vs. Derrick Lewis at UFC Vegas 68
After he was done making a statement in the Octagon, Serghei Spivac made a statement on the mic.
Spivac submitted Derrick Lewis in the first round of their UFC Fight Night encounter Saturday in Las Vegas. After the fight, he respectfully challenged Jon Jones:
"I want Jon Jones," he said before letting out a small chuckle. "Jon Jones, I respect you so much. Sorry, bro, but I'm coming."
The 28-year-old figures to be climbing up the heavyweight ladder following this weekend. The Moldova native was the 12th-ranked fighter in the division prior to reeling off his third straight victory that moved his record to 16-3.
For now, a date with Jones might be little more than a pipe dream.
Jones is making his long-awaited return to the Octagon against Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 285 on March 4. It will be his first appearance for UFC since winning a unanimous decision over Dominick Reyes in February 2020.
Taking down Lewis, who was ranked No. 7 in the division, was the biggest win of Spivac's nine-year UFC career. If he maintains this trajectory, perhaps he can get on Jones' radar with another result or two going his way.
