WWE Rumors: Ronda Rousey Lost Title to Charlotte Because She Wants to Win Tag Titles
What Ronda Rousey wants, Ronda Rousey gets in WWE.
Dave Melzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said Rousey and Shayna Baszler are set for a women's tag team championship run due to a request from the former UFC star.
"They made the decision to go with Charlotte [to win the SmackDown championship], which was basically a last-minute thing, let's put her over," Meltzer said (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News). "Ronda then decided she wanted to be a tag team champion with Shayna Baszler because she's always wanted to do that run, so she will do that run."

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Rousey shockingly dropped the SmackDown women's championship to Charlotte Flair in a match with no build on the Dec. 30 SmackDown. She's not wrestled in a match since, though it appears WWE is gearing up to put her in a tag feud with IYO SKY and Dakota Kai, who currently hold the tag belts.
It would be an interesting decision from a booking perspective, given all four women involved are currently heels.
That said, it's possible SKY and Kai wind up dropping the tag belts before Rousey's return to set up a more standard heel vs. face matchup.
