Lions' Jared Goff Gives Advice to Derek Carr amid Raiders Trade Rumors After Benching
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff gave advice to Derek Carr at the Pro Bowl festivities this week with the veteran preparing for a career transition.
"We had a really good talk about it earlier this week," Goff said of Carr, per Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "I think his head is in a great place about it, whatever ends up happening with him."
Carr has spent his entire nine-year NFL career with the Raiders, starting 142 games, but he was benched toward the end of the 2022 campaign and will seek a trade in the offseason. He already wrote a goodbye letter to fans, and he discussed it being "time to move on" this week with NFL Network.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The uncertainty can be difficult, but Goff is among those familiar with this type of transition. The 2016 No. 1 overall draft pick spent five years with the Rams and led the squad to the Super Bowl, but they dealt him to the Lions in 2021 in exchange for Matthew Stafford. Though the Rams won a championship without him, Goff has found success with his new home and earned a third Pro Bowl selection this year.
"There's definitely life on the other side," Goff said.
The 31-year-old Carr will hope to find similar success in his new location.
