Raiders' Josh Jacobs Rips New NFL Pro Bowl Format: 'This S--t Is Stupid'

Mike ChiariFeb 4, 2023

Count Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs among those who aren't in favor of the NFL's new Pro Bowl format.

According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Jacobs said Saturday of the Pro Bowl Games, "This s--t is stupid."

Since the finalization of the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, the AFC and NFC have faced each other in the Pro Bowl every year with the exception of its cancellation in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and a switch to drafted teams from 2013 to 2015.

The quality of the Pro Bowl had dropped off significantly in recent years with players understandably prioritizing avoiding injuries and not going all out like they would in a normal game.

With the NFL coming to the realization that the Pro Bowl had turned into a joke among fans, it made a huge change this year with the implementation of the Pro Bowl Games.

In place of the traditional Pro Bowl, the NFL set up a series of skill competitions for the participating players. On Thursday, they competed in several, including passing accuracy, dodgeball and a water balloon toss.

The Pro Bowl Games will resume Sunday with the highlight being a flag football game between the teams.

There is perhaps no perfect answer for how to fix the Pro Bowl, but Jacobs clearly doesn't believe the Pro Bowl Games are the best way to go despite them being held in his home city of Las Vegas.

Jacobs was selected to his second Pro Bowl and is coming off a career season that saw him rush for a league-leading 1,653 yards to go along with 12 touchdowns.

The 24-year-old tailback may now be looking ahead to the offseason, as he is set to become a free agent and could cash in as one of the highest-paid running backs in football.
