NFL Playoff Predictions: Tim Tebow's Magical Season Will End Against Steelers

Austin GreenJan 2, 2012

Tim Tebow has had a successful season in Denver, but it will come to a screeching halt against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week.

After starting 7-1 with Tebow under center, the Broncos have entered a free fall. They're backing into the playoffs after dropping three straight games.

Denver was blown out 41-23 by New England in Week 15, which is excusable because the Patriots destroy everybody. However, their blowout loss to Buffalo and narrow defeat against Kansas City are indefensible.

After a strong start, Tebow's play has plummeted. He's failed to reach 200 yards passing during their three-game slide and has thrown four interceptions compared to just one touchdown.

His completion percentage has also returned to dismal status. He showed some improvement in his accuracy in the middle of the season, but it's dropped off as of late. He has completed just 41 percent of his passes during their losing streak, including a horrible 6-of-22 performance in Week 17.

All of this is great news for the Steelers and their fearsome defense.

Once again, Pittsburgh has one of the best defensive units in the league. It has only given up 172.2 passing yards per game (first in NFL), and its 15 touchdown passes allowed are tied for second least in the league.

The defense also excels at stopping the run, which will be key against the Broncos and their league-leading rushing attack. The Steelers allow just 101.7 rushing yards per game and only the 49ers have surrendered fewer touchdowns on the ground.

Tim Tebow has had some magical moments in his first season as Denver's starting quarterback. Unfortunately, he won't cap off the year with a playoff victory.
