Rhea Ripley Says Knee Injury Was a Dislocation During 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Win
Rhea Ripley fought through a dislocated knee as she won the women's Royal Rumble match at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble event on Saturday night.
"I mean, I'm obviously beat up," Ripley said during a press conference following the Royal Rumble event (h/t Kellie Haulotte of Wrestling Inc.).
"My knees aren't very good in general, so my knee did dislocate for a second, and then it went back in. I'm feeling good now. I feel like it's because of all my emotions. I'm excited, so I've sort of been blocking everything else. If anything I can smell blood in my nose, that's definitely there. But my knee is good."
Ripley was in the ring for more than an hour as the first entrant of the match and secured the victory by tossing Liv Morgan over the top rope.
It was a notable win given how close she was in the 2021 Royal Rumble as one of the final two women in the ring.
Bianca Belair won that year, and Haulotte pointed out there could be a rematch for Ripley's title at WrestleMania 39. Haulotte also listed Charlotte Flair as a possible opponent for Ripley assuming the latter is healthy enough to compete after the knee dislocation.
