Knicks' Julius Randle Catches Heat on Twitter for Shaky Outing in Loss to Nets

Doric SamJan 28, 2023

New York Knicks forward Julius Randle had a few recent outings that made it appear he was worthy of an All-Star selection, but he couldn't sustain that level of play in Saturday's rivalry game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Randle finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists as the Knicks fell 122-115 to the Nets at Barclays Center, their ninth straight loss against their crosstown foes. The big man, who shot 7-of-16 from the field and 1-of-6 from three-point range Saturday, had scored 30 or more points in three of his last four games.

While Randle's performance was decent, it just wasn't enough to get New York past a Brooklyn team that was without star forward Kevin Durant. The Knicks trailed by as many as 19 points before making things close in the fourth quarter, but the Nets didn't relinquish the lead.

Randle's effort Saturday made fans on Twitter forget his previous dominance, and they didn't hold back in letting their disappointment be known:

The Knicks entered Saturday's game on a two-game win streak after losing four straight, and the loss to the Nets is a blow to any momentum they were trying to build.

New York could play its way into the top six in the Eastern Conference with some, as it trails the Miami Heat by 1.5 games. However, the team will need to string together some consistent wins, and it will need Randle to be at his best each time he takes the floor.

The Knicks (27-24) will try to get back on track when they host the Los Angeles Lakers (23-26) on Tuesday.
