NBA Trade Rumors: 'Do Not Be Surprised' If Bulls Move Andre Drummond at Deadline

Adam WellsJan 27, 2023

As the Chicago Bulls continue their fall down the Eastern Conference standings, they have a decision to make about whether or not to become sellers at the trade deadline.

Per NBA insider Marc Stein, "do not be surprised" if the Bulls move Andre Drummond ahead of the Feb. 9 deadline.

While Bulls general manager Marc Eversley has a lot of decisions to make over the next two weeks, trading Drummond could be an easy move to make.

Head coach Billy Donovan has dropped Drummond from his regular rotation recently. The 29-year-old hasn't appeared in five of the past 11 games and has only played more than 10 minutes in a game twice since Jan. 2.

The Bulls have won 11 of their last 19 games and are tied with the Washington Wizards for the final spot in the play-in tournament. It's not exactly a sign of great optimism for the second half of the season, but it could allow them to be sellers without moving any of their top players.

For instance, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan are still under contract after this season. Drummond, Nikola Vučević, Coby White, Derrick Jones Jr., Goran Dragić and Javonte Green could all become free agents this summer.

Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer reported on his Please Don't Aggregate This podcast (via HoopsHype) that Chicago believes it can get two first-round picks in a trade for Alex Caruso.

Drummond signed a two-year, $6.6 million deal with the Bulls in July. He is averaging a career-low 6.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in 36 appearances this season.

The second year of Drummond's deal is a player option for $3.36 million. A playoff contender looking for depth at center could bet on him at least being able to provide 10-15 minutes of solid performance off the bench down the stretch without having to sacrifice much in terms of money or draft capital.
