NFL Playoff Predictions: New Orleans Saints and Biggest First Round Fails

Dan RenfroJun 7, 2018

Every year, there are serious fails in the first round of the playoffs.

Whether its players, teams or coaches, there are always a few fails in the first week of playoff matchups.

First, the most obvious fail is the Houston Texans.

They were playing well, but without Matt Schaub, they simply aren't going anywhere. Jake Delhomme is whom they're banking on.

That's not good.

Delhomme will only be handing the ball off, but with that amount of predictability I wouldn't expect much from the Texans. They have a good offensive line and running game, but the Cincinnati Bengals will make sure Arian Foster is held under wraps.

They've had a good run, but it will end in an ugly fashion.

Another fail will be the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have been a solid team, and even though they have 12 wins, they will be knocked out on the first weekend.

Their defense is good, but I think Tim Tebow will rehash some magic, and steal this game from Big Ben & Co. It won't be a pretty game, and I think that plays right into Tebow's hand.

The Steelers will look bad, and I don't expect much from them.

Then there are the New Orleans Saints. Just like last year, people are slowly getting back on their bandwagon. Just like last year, they will disappoint in the first round.

They will be playing at home, but they have the Detroit Lions coming to town. The Lions are a good team, and they have big-play potential.

You can be sure that Calvin Johnson will have a monstrous game. Matthew Stafford even has the capability to outplay Drew Brees. Now, I don't think that will happen, but he will definitely play well enough to beat the Saints.

The Saints have a lot of momentum heading into the playoffs, but there will be a serious letdown next week.
