2012 NFL Draft Order: Why Minnesota Vikings Are Biggest Losers

Dan RenfroJun 7, 2018

As the NFL Draft order is figured out, it is clear that the Minnesota Vikings are truly the biggest losers.

The Andrew Luck Sweepstakes has finally been decided, and the Vikings didn't win it.

With their win over the Washington Redskins last week, the Vikings assured themselves the third pick in the draft. It's still a good pick, but the Vikings could've had better.

The Vikings were slowly getting closer to the No. 1 pick, while the Indianapolis Colts were starting to win football games. It looked like they might sneak into the top spot.

With the Green Bay Packers having such a great year, and the other teams having such bad divisions, the Vikings couldn't win the tiebreaker. Their strength of schedule was too good, which meant they needed to have the most losses.

Obviously, the Vikings couldn't even manage to lose the most games. That sounds dumb, and the Vikings did have a few bright spots, but why not bottom out?

From a pride standpoint, they needed to try and win. However, from a management standpoint, another spot up in the draft would've been nice.

Now the Vikings are looking at the third pick. There is plenty of talent in the draft, which should help them feel better.

However, the Vikings could miss out on Justin Blackmon or Matt Kalil. No one is a sure thing, but each of those players would fit the Vikings needs.

The Vikings are sitting at the No. 3 pick, and that is definitely another loss to end a bad season.
