Falcons vs. Panthers: Picks, Lineup Tips for Daily Fantasy Fanduel, DraftKings

For the second time in three weeks, the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers are set to face off in an NFC South matchup. And if Thursday night's clash is anything like the previous meeting, then Week 10 of the NFL season should get off to an exciting start.

In Week 8, the Falcons won a back-and-forth contest, holding off the Panthers for a 37-34 overtime win in Atlanta. This time, the two teams will be going head-to-head at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Although both teams are below .500 and likely won't make the playoffs, there are standout playmakers on each side. It was also clear in the Oct. 30 meeting that the defenses will have trouble stopping big plays from the opponent's offense.

With some strong fantasy performances likely on the horizon, here's some DFS advice for those who plan on creating a lineup on DraftKings or FanDuel for Thursday's matchup.

Trust Panthers WRs over RBs

Even though the Panthers benched PJ Walker in favor of Baker Mayfield during their Week 9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Walker will start Thursday's game vs. the Falcons.

However, that shouldn't stop daily fantasy players from utilizing Carolina wide receivers in their lineups.

Walker had success in Atlanta two weeks ago, passing for 317 yards and a touchdown. That led to strong showings for both DJ Moore (152 yards and a touchdown) and Terrace Marshall Jr. (87 yards). And both could fare well again this week.

Moore ($13,800 on DraftKings; $12,000 on FanDuel) is a strong choice for MVP/captain in DFS lineups, as the 25-year-old has scored a touchdown in two of his past three games.

If you're looking to save a bit of your budget, Marshall ($12,600 on DraftKings; $9,000 on FanDuel) is also a solid choice after scoring his first career NFL TD last week.

However, it's probably best to avoid Panthers running backs. D'Onta Foreman has been getting most of the work in recent weeks, but Chuba Hubbard may return from an ankle injury on Thursday.

Carolina may go with the hot hand, and that makes it risky to trust either for fantasy purposes.

Allgeier Could Be High-Value Play at RB

Cordarrelle Patterson returned to the Falcons' backfield in Week 9 and immediately scored two touchdowns in their loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The 31-year-old played only 39 percent of the team's offensive snaps, and that number is likely to go up in Week 10 now that he's got his first game back under his belt.

That doesn't mean Atlanta will completely move away from rookie running back Tyler Allgeier, though. He has been playing well of late and still had 123 total yards on 11 touches last week, even though Patterson was back.

If the 22-year-old ($9,300 on DraftKings; $10,000 on FanDuel) gets into the end zone for the third time in four weeks, he could have another strong fantasy performance. And he should get enough opportunities for that to be possible.

So, even though Patterson will start, Allgeier may be the better DFS value play. Both should have success against a Panthers defense that is allowing 139.3 rushing yards per game, which is the fifth most in the NFL.

Tremble an Intriguing Sleeper Option for Lineups

Tommy Tremble wasn't much of a factor in Carolina's Week 8 loss to Atlanta, as he had only two catches for 17 yards. But that's the only time the second-year tight end hasn't gotten into the end zone over the Panthers' past three games.

The 22-year-old scored his first touchdown of the season in a Week 7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then notched another in last week's loss in Cincinnati. But he hasn't recorded more than 34 yards in a game this year, so he's a TD-or-bust option at tight end.

Still, at Tremble's low DFS cost ($4,800 on DraftKings; $7,000 on FanDuel), it may be worth taking a chance on him to get into the end zone again on Thursday, especially considering the Falcons are giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to tight ends, per NFL.com.

Maybe the Notre Dame product's recent hot streak ends in Week 10. But if he scores another touchdown (or even puts up a bigger yardage total), he could be a difference-maker in DFS.
