Updated Predictions For AEW Full Gear 2022 Match Card
At a time when on-screen programming hasn’t lived up to previous highs and controversy has followed the brand in recent weeks, All Elite Wrestling is looking to get things back on track with the help of the Full Gear pay-per-view.
While only one match has been announced for the November 19 event, the AEW World Championship bout between Jon Moxley and MJF has the cache needed to carry the company into 2023 and beyond.
Add in several marquee battles between the immensely talented performers throughout the company’s roster, and the PPV is Tony Khan’s chance to make everything all right again and move the company forward with consistency and continuity.
Here are the updated predictions for the 2022 AEW Full Gear match card and the bouts fans need to see added.

TNT Championship: Wardlow vs. Samoa Joe
There are few wrestlers in AEW with as much fan support and momentum as Wardlow, but he needs a marquee feud and culminating match to define his early career.
While Samoa Joe is his friend right now, the former ROH champion could be the man who cements Wardlow’s legacy.
Joe is one of the few performers whose reaction from the fans is as boisterous as the TNT champion's, and their tag team run has been hugely entertaining. In the coming weeks, though, the veteran should begin to show jealousy over the fans' support for his teammate.
The TNT champion should continue looking for a challenger at Full Gear, leaving an open contract for anyone tough enough to attempt to take his title. The man who should sign the paperwork is The Samoan Submission Machine, kicking off their long-term storyline.
The first hoss battle between the two behemoths at Full Gear would be an instant classic, aided by a time limit that could result in a draw. With the match being clean before an angered Joe brutally attacks the champion after the bell, the stage would be set for the winter.
With the 43-year-old and Wardlow main-eventing Dynamite every time they wrestle, the company would have a program it could build around for at least two months.
Wardlow would inevitably come out on top—strengthening his star power—but both men would come out looking stronger.
Britt Baker vs. Saraya
Many of the criticisms of the AEW women’s division have been warranted over the last two years, but the addition of Saraya is a major coup for the company.
If the former WWE Divas champion is cleared to compete, her first match should be at Full Gear against Britt Baker.
Baker is one of the top heels in the business right now and the ideal performer to stand across the ring from Saraya.
In addition to her stellar work from a character perspective—giving Saraya the perfect heel to play off—The Good Doctor knows how to protect her opponents, a key for anyone challenging a wrestler who had a career-threatening injury.
Keeping the match simple and telling an in-ring story the fans can get behind are more important than stringing together a series of impressive moves, especially as AEW continues to establish Saraya and why she signed with the company.
Full Gear should be a turning point in how the women are booked on Dynamite, Rampage and PPVs moving forward, and the battle between Baker and Saraya should be looked upon as the moment the momentum shifted.
