Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete PPR Player Rankings for Week 6
We're five weeks into the 2022 fantasy football season, and things have gone pretty much like we expected—in that they have gone nothing like we expected.
Sure, some things have gone according to plan. It's not at all surprising that Buffalo's Josh Allen is the highest-scoring quarterback. Or that Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams is the No. 1 wide receiver. Or that Kansas City's Travis Kelce is one again king of the tight ends.
But not many fantasy analysts expected Geno Smith to have more fantasy points than Justin Herbert under center. Or for rookie running back Breece Hall to have more fantasy points than Dalvin Cook. Or for Chris Olave to have more fantasy points at wide receiver than Deebo Samuel.
That's just how it goes in fantasy football. You have to be quick to adapt. Keep your head on the proverbial swivel. Drafting well can go a long way toward a hot start. But staying that way means constantly looking to improve the roster and making the right lineup calls.
This article aims to aid fantasy managers in that latter regard, with position-by-position PPR rankings for Week 6 and some matchups at each spot to exploit or avoid.
Enough chit-chat. Let's get to work.
Quarterbacks
1 of 6
When Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos in the offseason, the general consensus in the fantasy community was that Wilson would shine with his new team. More than one fantasy analyst (including this one…sigh) talked Wilson up as a value pick. Meanwhile, Geno Smith was a fantasy afterthought in Seattle. Many folks even expected Drew Lock to be the Week 1 starter for the Seahawks.
Um, yeah. About that.
Five weeks into the 2022 season, Wilson has been mediocre at best in Denver. He's 14th in the league in passing yards, has thrown just four touchdown passes and ranks outside the top 15 fantasy quarterbacks in points per game.
Meanwhile, after throwing for 268 yards and three scores in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints, Smith is completing over 75 percent of his passes—tops in the league. He's averaging over 26 yards per contest, has nine touchdown passes against just two interceptions and ranks well inside the top 10 in fantasy points at the position.
We live in a world where Geno Smith is a better fantasy start than Russell Wilson—and right now, it's not an especially close call.
Good Matchups
Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings (at MIA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000]
For all that has been made of Cousins' struggles in primetime games, his home and road career splits are virtually the same. That bodes well for the 34-year-old's prospects ahead of a trip to Miami to face the Dolphins and their 28th-ranked pass defense.
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals (at SEA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,300]
Despite Arizona's first-half offensive woes and a relatively pedestrian game last week against the undefeated Eagles, Murray has still been a solid QB1 for fantasy managers this season. That should continue Sunday against Seattle's league-worst defense in terms of yards allowed.
Bad Matchups
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (vs. DEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,000]
Herbert hasn't had the breakout season that some expected in 2022, but the third-year pro hasn't necessarily been bad, either. This week's primetime tilt with Denver is an uphill challenge, though—only two teams have allowed fewer fantasy points to quarterbacks than the Broncos.
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. DAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,900]
Hurts has been outstanding for fantasy managers this season, in part because of his rushing ability and in part because of his growth as a passer. But his production in Week 6 could be a bit more modest—the Dallas defense ranks seventh in the league against the pass.
Sleeper
Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks (vs. ARI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,700]
Given that I just talked up Smith's play this season, calling him a "sleeper" may not be the most apt descriptor. But if you're looking for a DFS play under center with a relatively modest price tag, Smith should be atop the list against a Cardinals defense giving up the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

Running Backs
2 of 6
The hits just keep coming at running back.
In a week that started with consensus No. 1 overall fantasy pick Jonathan Taylor of the Colts sitting out Indy's game with Denver and backup Nyheim Hines barely playing before suffering a concussion, we should have known it was going to be another rough week.
Sure enough, it was.
In New England, Damien Harris of the Patriots went down with a hamstring injury early in the team's win over the Lions. Seattle's Rashaad Penny exited the Seahawks' loss to the Saints with a broken fibula that ended his 2022 season. And James Conner of the Cardinals was forced from Arizona's loss to the Eagles with injured ribs.
Conner is tentatively expected to play in Week 6, but Harris is another matter. And with the list of walking wounded and/or players out for the year at running back growing by the week, more than a few fantasy managers are already in scramble mode in the backfield.
Good Matchups
Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots (at CLE) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000]
With Harris on the shelf last week, Stevenson was forced into a featured role against Detroit and responded in a big way, rumbling for 161 yards on 25 carries. He could be set for a huge Week 6 against a Cleveland run defense that has been gashed each of the last two weeks.
Jeff Wilson Jr., San Francisco 49ers (at ATL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,200]
Wilson had an excellent outing last week against the Panthers, amassing 132 total yards and a touchdown on 18 total touches. Look for the good times to keep rolling in Week 6—San Francisco is a run-first team, and the Falcons can be had on the ground.
Bad Matchups
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. TB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,000]
Given his lack of production this season and the five-alarm dumpster fire that is the Pittsburgh offense, the last thing fantasy managers with shares of Harris want is more bad news. They are getting it anyway—in the form of a bad matchup with Tampa's stifling run defense.
Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints (vs. CIN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,700]
Fantasy managers with shares of Kamara were thrilled with last week's yardage total—and a tad miffed that Taysom Hill vultured all the touchdowns. But there's a difference between Seattle's sieve of a defense and a Bengals team allowing the fewest fantasy points in the AFC to running backs.
Sleeper
Darrell Henderson Jr., Los Angeles Rams (vs. CAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $5,100]
At some point, Sean McVay is going to come to grips with the fact that Henderson is a more effective and dynamic runner right now than Cam Akers. Even if he doesn't, Henderson should still get 10-12 touches in a plus matchup with the reeling Panthers.
WEEK 6 RUNNING BACK RANKINGS

Wide Receivers
3 of 6
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here to pay our respects to the greatness that is Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Copper Kupp. Because with the advantage of hindsight, it's a safe bet that most of the fantasy managers who possessed the No. 1 pick would take Kupp if afforded a do-over.
Five weeks into the 2022 season, Kupp leads all receivers with 49 catches. His 527 receiving yards trails only Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings. His four touchdown receptions trails only Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills. And just as he did in 2021, Kupp is leading all wide receivers in fantasy points.
It's not just that Kupp is productive. He's robotically so. Kupp has logged at last 10 targets in four of five games. Topped 100 receiving yards in four of five games. Scored a touchdown in four of five games. And eclipsed 25 PPR points in four of five games—and at least 15 points in all five.
Sure, there are receivers like Diggs and Jefferson who are at least in the same ballpark in terms of overall production. But in terms of consistency, Kupp is in a world all of his own.
In a year where injuries, inconsistency and shaky quarterback play have already wreaked havoc on the position, Kupp has been the fantasy football equivalent of a Terminator.
He just keeps coming. He never, ever stops.
Good Matchups
Gabe Davis, Buffalo Bills (at KC) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500]
After something of a slump as he nursed an ankle injury, Davis exploded last week against the Steelers, catching touchdown passes of 98 and 62 yards. Fresh off that bonkers afternoon, Davis gets a Chiefs secondary he torched for a ridiculous 8/201/4 stat line in the playoffs last year.
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at PIT) [DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100]
After getting absolutely roasted by Josh Allen and the Bills last week, no team in the NFL has allowed more PPR points to receivers this year than the Steelers. That bodes well for Godwin, who appears to be healthy after posting at least a dozen PPR points for the second straight game in Week 5.
Bad Matchups
Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars (at IND) [DraftKings DFS Value $5,800]
After a hot start to the 2022 season, Kirk has cooled off considerably the past two weeks, logging just three catches for 71 yards over the last two games combined. This week's matchup with a Colts team allowing the fewest PPR points to wide receivers isn't going to help matters any.
Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers (vs. DEN) [DraftKings DFS Value: $7,400]
Williams had himself a day last week against the Cleveland Browns, turning 13 targets into 10 catches and his second straight 100-yard outing. Notching a third in a row won't be easy—the Broncos have given up the second-fewest fantasy points to receivers in 2022.
Sleeper
Darius Slayton, New York Giants (at BAL) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,800]
Slayton was a surprise star of last week's upset win over the Green Bay Packers, hauling in six of seven targets for 79 yards. With the Giants wide receivers still all kinds of banged up, Slayton could once again be New York's de facto No. 1 wide receiver in a plus matchup for his position with the Ravens.
WEEK 6 WIDE RECEIVER RANKINGS
1. Cooper Kupp, LAR (vs. CAR)
2. Justin Jefferson, MIN (at MIA)
3. Stefon Diggs, BUF (at KC)

Tight Ends
4 of 6
This season, there are two camps where tight ends are concerned. There are the teams that have Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs or Mark Andrews of the Baltimore Ravens. And there are the teams who do not.
That latter camp has spent most of the first five weeks of the season grasping at straws. And for the fortunate few who gambled on Taysom Hill of the Saints in Week 5, that grasping paid off in a massive way.
All Hill did against the Seattle Seahawks was carry the ball six times for 112 yards and three touchdowns and complete his only pass attempt of the game for 22 yards and another score. Hill all but single-handedly carried the Saints to victory, earning props from Saints quarterback Andy Dalton in the process.
"His performance today, it's hard to match—all the stuff that he can do and all the stuff he was able to do to help us," Dalton told reporters. "He's special."
It isn't Hill's first big game of the season—he tallied 81 yards on the ground with a touchdown back in Week 1. But the problem for fantasy managers is that in the other three games of the season combined, Hill doesn't have 10 PPR points.
After last week's explosion, plenty of TE-needy fantasy managers will probably scoop Hill off the waiver wire. But he's as likely (if not more so) to disappear again in Week 6 than post another big score.
Good Matchups
Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars (at IND) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,500]
Engram has had his moments in his first season with the Jaguars, including a six-catch, 69-yard effort on 10 targets last week against the Houston Texans. With a top-five matchup for tight ends on tap this week against the Colts, Engram may well have a few more moments in Week 6.
Zach Ertz, Arizona Cardinals (at SEA) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,900]
Five weeks into the season, Ertz is just behind Detroit's T.J. Hockenson for the title of fantasy's No. 3 tight end—or the No. 1 guy not named Kelce or Andrews. He'll have third place all to himself soon after a great matchup for the position with the Seahawks.
Bad Matchups
Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (at GB) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,400]
Over the first three weeks of the season, with Joe Flacco under center, Conklin averaged eight targets and six receptions per game. Over the last two weeks with Zach Wilson under center, Conklin has six targets and three catches—including none on one target a week ago.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (vs. SF) [DraftKings DFS Value: $4,200]
As if Pitts' early-season vanishing act wasn't bad enough, he missed Week 5 altogether with a bad hamstring. That injury makes it uncertain if Pitts will even play this week, and if he does, it will be against a 49ers team allowing the fewest PPR points to tight ends in the NFC.
Sleeper
Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks (vs. ARI) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,100]
Noah Fant might be the bigger name, but it's Dissly who has been the more productive fantasy option in 2022. Frankly, both might be serviceable dart throws this week against Arizona—for whatever reason, the Cardinals flatly refuse to cover tight ends.
WEEK 6 TIGHT END RANKINGS
1. Travis Kelce, KC (vs. BUF)
2. Mark Andrews, BAL (at NYG)
3. Dallas Goedert, PHI (vs. DAL)
4. Zach Ertz, ARI (at SEA)
5. George Kittle, SF (at ATL)
6. Tyler Higbee, LAR (vs. CAR)

Kickers and Defenses
5 of 6
Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker isn't a human being. He's an opera-singing, multilingual robot sent from the future to kick a hole in the space-time continuum.
Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals, the most accurate kicker the NFL has ever seen once again made the exceptional look routine. Tucker booted through all four of his field-goal attempts, including a 58-yarder that split the uprights as though it were an attempt from 20 yards closer.
After the game, Tucker told reporters what goes through his mind as he's about to hit the ball.
"What matters in those 1.3 seconds between snap, hold and the kick, are the things that are going to help the kick go through the uprights," Tucker said. "My feelings, my emotions—for 1.3 seconds, they don't really matter, whether I'm feeling very confident or nervous or even outright afraid. That's partly why I always make it a point to say a brief prayer as I'm lining up to kick—not to ask for results, but to ask for peace and to show gratitude just for sort of being able to be in that moment."
Of course, that's exactly what an opera-singing, multilingual robot from the future would say.
We aren't falling for it, pal.
Good Matchups
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at PIT) [DraftKings DFS Value: $3,900]
If you watched Kenny Pickett's first NFL start last week, you know that the Steelers offense is a disaster right now. The offensive line is bad, the quarterback is unproven and the Steelers are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to defenses.
Evan McPherson, Cincinnati Bengals (at NO)
McPherson has been neither great nor terrible for fantasy managers this season, checking in eighth among kickers in fantasy points. Facing a Saints team that allows the most fantasy points to the position indoors sets the second-year pro up for a solid outing.
Bad Matchups
Brett Maher, Dallas Cowboys (at PHI)
Maher has been quite the find for fantasy managers this year, ranking right at the top of the leaderboard among kickers. But this week's matchup is a tough one—no team has surrendered fewer fantasy points to kickers than the Eagles.
Buffalo Bills (at Kansas City Chiefs) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,700]
Despite being hit hard by injuries in the secondary, the Bills have continued to play defense at an elite level over the past few weeks. But the last time these teams met in last year's playoffs, both defenses got cooked and cooked and then cooked some more.
Sleeper
Carolina Panthers (at LAR) [DraftKings DFS Value: $2,400]
It admittedly takes a hearty soul to trot out the cheapest defense in the league at DraftKings. But the Panthers have been a middle-of-the-pack fantasy defense, and the Rams have surrendered more fantasy points to the position than any team in the league.

Top 100 Overall/Flex Rankings
6 of 6
As is always the case, before we get to this week's top 100 players overall (a list that can be used to aid in flex lineup decisions), the usual caveat and a bit of friendly advice.
The caveat is the same as always. There are no quarterbacks listed here. If your fantasy league utilizes a superflex spot, then you almost always want to slot a quarterback in it.
Jacoby Brissett is averaging more PPR points per game than Dalvin Cook. For reals.
The bit of advice is this. With the bye weeks now here (the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans are all off in Week 6) decision time has come for some players. You obviously aren't dropping Davante Adams, Dameon Pierce, Amon-Ra St. Brown or Derrick Henry. But ancillary players like Treylon Burks or even Hunter Renfrow are a lot tougher to hold—especially in leagues with short benches.
It's also time to start seriously considering whether disappointing players are worth holding any longer. We can wait from now until Turkey Day for Elijah Moore to finally do something for fantasy managers, but the reality is that it probably isn't happening, barring an injury to Corey Davis or Garrett Wilson.
The farther we move into the byes and the more injuries add up, the more valuable roster spots become.
You can't afford to waste them much longer.
