Little League World Series 2022: Bracket Dates, Teams, TV Schedule and Format

Erik BeastonAug 15, 2022

The best of the best in youth baseball will be determined in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, this month with the return of the Little League World Series.

The finest Little League teams in the world will compete for the right to raise the championship trophy hoisted by the squad from Michigan a year ago.

This year's bracket is split in two, with one side featuring the best teams from the United States and the other headlined by top international teams. It is a return to international play after COVID-19 precautions led to a U.S.-only competition in 2021.

The tournament is double-elimination, a format that benefited last year's champions.

The team from Michigan shook off an early loss to a seemingly dominant Hawai'i team and went on a three-game tear that saw them defeat that same Hawaiian squad en route to their momentous victory.

Michigan does not have a representative in this year's field, but the perennial powerhouse squad from Honolulu, Hawai'i, will look to improve upon its consolation game victory (an emphatic 5-0 victory over South Dakota) by hoisting the winner's prize.

They are 3-0 in regional play and should be a major factor in this year's field as they seek their first championship since 2018.

Despite that previous dominance, the return of international play promises an exciting field. Prior to Hawai'i's last championship win, play had been dominated by teams from the Asia-Pacific region, which fielded five of the seven champions between 2010 and 2017.

Can the Taipei City team from Chinese Taipei return the region to championship glory or will the United States continue its recent run on titles? Which team will come from out of nowhere to be the Cinderella story that captivates fans and commands attention?

We will find out beginning Wednesday afternoon.
