Terrell Owens: Star WR Reportedly Close to Deal with IFL Team
And you thought you'd seen the last of Terrell Owens playing football in Texas.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the former star wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys is closing in on a six-figure deal to join the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League in time for the start of the season on February 25th. The contract would reportedly pay Owens between $250,000 and $500,000 while making him part owner and CEO of the team.
Wranglers owner Jon Frankel is well aware of the risk involved in paying out such a sum to a player in a league wherein everyone else earns a base rate of $225 per game, which bumps up to $250 per victory.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"It doesn't make a ton of financial sense, but it would make it the No. 1 fan experience in Collin County. The awareness of the team would skyrocket and I would imagine we'd sell out every game.
"
Owens spent three seasons with the Cowboys, notching 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns each time while irritating his teammates and fans with his usual flair for the dramatic.
The 38-year-old free agent has struggled to attract attention from NFL scouts since tearing his ACL this past spring. Owens last played in the NFL in 2010, when he racked up 983 yards and nine touchdowns on 72 catches with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Playing in the 6,300-seat Allen Events Center will be a far cry from the packed 90,000-seat stadiums to which T.O. has long been accustomed, though this stint will at least give him the opportunity to show that he has something left in the tank.
As for the IFL, commissioner Tommy Benizio can only hope the addition of a high-profile pass catcher like Owens will have anywhere near the same impact David Beckham's stint with the LA Galaxy did on MLS.
