George Kittle Says 49ers vs. Rams Has Potential to Be 'Kind of a Body Bag Game'

Paul KasabianJan 7, 2022

Sunday's San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams game is crucial for both teams as the playoffs approach.

It could also be a physical battle with so much on the line, and 49ers tight end George Kittle told reporters Thursday the matchup would be "kind of a body bag game."

ESPN's Nick Wagoner provided the full quotes and context.

The 49ers need either a win over the Rams or a New Orleans Saints loss to the Atlanta Falcons to make the playoffs.

The Rams will win the NFC West with a victory over San Francisco or an Arizona Cardinals loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Naturally, these two teams will be going all-out in a game that could be a physical affair.

That was the case in mid-November when San Francisco crushed L.A. 31-10. The 49ers took to the ground 44 times for 156 rushing yards.

L.A. has added motivation in that the 49ers have beaten them five straight times. That's on the Rams' minds, and cornerback Jalen Ramsey addressed the streak with reporters Thursday:

"Since I've been here, they've had our number. It is frustrating, but they don't have mind control over us, nothing like that if that's what you're asking. It's just how the games have went. But we are going out there confident on Sunday. We're not going out there thinking, 'Ah, man, we've lost this many games.' That is not our mindset at all. We're definitely going out there confident."

L.A. will host San Francisco at 4:25 p.m. ET at SoFi Stadium.
