Dallas Cowboys: 5 Reasons Why the Giants Win and Dallas Misses the Playoffs

Manik AggarwalJun 6, 2018

Another Sunday night game featuring the Dallas Cowboys and a New York team will end with the same result. The Cowboys threw and fumbled away the season opener in New York against the Jets and then saw a commanding lead dwindle away, compliments of Eli Manning a few weeks ago. As the final game of the NFL regular season approaches expect the same result for the following reasons.

1. Eli Manning. Eli has torn up the Dallas defense over the last couple of years. Most recently during the Sunday night meltdown in Big D where he put up a passing clinic in the fourth quarter. Eli's counterpart, Tony Romo, will play well but will not make the game changing plays required to win in the fourth quarter.

2. JPP. Young, brash, cocky and downright dominant. Jason Pierre Paul is an absolute stud who will wreck immense havoc against a so-so offensive line. He will continue to give Romo problems, and may make another game-saving play, similar to blocking the field goal in the Sunday night game.

3. Rob Ryan. Although eccentric, he prepares his players well for gameday. Except against the NFC East. He has been embarrassed against a poor Redskins team (fortunate to win), twice against a Vick-led Philly team and already once against the Giants. His wild approach is shown on the field where discipline often gets sacrificed for that one "wow" play. Although sacks and turnovers have been up, the Dallas secondary has been mediocre at best. Ryan knows he is playing for a head coaching gig, but this season has been anything but a good interview.

4. Injury. Tony Romo has proved throughout his career that he will play through some vicious injuries (punctured lung!?). But, this hand injury is a different beast because it heavily restricts his passing ability and will inevitably get worse in the cold weather. Although he will give a valiant effort and his superstar receivers and tight ends will continue to make plays, the offensive gameplan will be restricted by this injury.

5. Intangibles. Coughlin v Garrett. Experience v Flash. Clutch v crumble. Unfortunately, signs point towards the New York Giants beating the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday night. This will mark another end to a disappointing season for the Cowboys.

Final prediction: 31-14. Eli has a field day against the Dallas defense and connects with Cruz and Nicks for long touchdowns while Jacobs and Bradshaw punish the defensive line.
