Bruce Arians on Buccaneers' 2021 Outlook: 'Stay the Hunter and Not the Hunted'

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians is preaching the importance of his team staying hungry after winning the Super Bowl last season.

In an interview with the Buccaneers' official website (h/t JoeBucsFan.com), Arians said the following about his hopes and expectations for 2021: "I think for me I'm going to have to be harder; make sure that we stay the hunter and not the hunted. We've relaxed a lot already this spring. Teams are getting ahead of us right now but I think we can catch up quickly."

The Bucs are a veteran-laden team led by quarterback Tom Brady, and given the success he enjoyed with the New England Patriots, it stands to reason he will play a big role in ensuring everyone around him remains focused.

In Brady's first season with the Bucs, they made the playoffs for the first time since 2007 and won their first championship since 2002, decisively beating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV.

Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion overall, suggesting he will have no problem leading by example in 2021.

He won six Super Bowls during his time with the Pats and is no stranger to the process of attempting to defend a championship.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who has won four Super Bowls alongside Brady, figures to be a big help in that regard as well.

Other veterans who may be looked upon to help set the tone for a championship defense include wide receiver Antonio Brown, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and pass-rushers Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaq Barrett.

Tampa also has no shortage of young, hungry players who are likely ready for more championship success, including offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs, running back Ronald Jones, linebacker Devin White and safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

During an appearance on The Loose Cannons (h/t JoeBucsFan.com) in March, Arians said he planned to figuratively "beat the s--t out of" his players during training camp in order to prepare them for the 2021 campaign.

Training camp is now just two weeks away for the Bucs, and Arians will have the opportunity to put his plan into action in hopes of making the Buccaneers the first repeat Super Bowl winners since the Patriots in 2004 and 2005.
