Cowboys News: Antwaun Woods Released After DAL Took 2 DTs in 2021 NFL Draft

After selecting two defensive tackles in the 2021 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys are moving on from Antwaun Woods. 

The team announced on Wednesday that Woods has been waived. 

It's no surprise that the Cowboys had a defense-heavy draft. They allowed the fifth-most points and ranked 23rd in Football Outsiders DVOA last season. 

Each of Dallas' first six picks were on the defensive side of the ball. Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons was the organization's top pick at No. 12 overall. 

The Cowboys grabbed UCLA's Osa Odighizuwa in the third round and Kentucky's Quinton Bohanna in the sixth round to play defensive tackle. They also selected Iowa defensive end Chauncey Golston in the third round. 

In addition to those draftees, Dallas signed veteran defensive tackle Brent Urban in free agency to boost its depth up front. 

Woods spent the past three seasons with the Cowboys after starting his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans. The 28-year-old has appeared in 39 games since the start of 2018, recording 80 combined tackles, eight quarterback hits and 2.5 sacks.
