Elliott has covered sports in California, Texas and Washington, most recently at The Olympian, where he spent six years as a reporter, mainly focusing on high school sports, the Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks. He was there at the last game played at The Kingdome and its eventual demolition, the Mariners’ 116-win season, too many rainy days at Husky Stadium, the Cougars’ Rose Bowl rout at the hands of Oklahoma, and even WrestleMania. Elliott continues to do freelance reporting for area newspapers and MSN.com.

In this article, I take a look at the first time I thought the season could be special, a game vs. the Seattle Mariners on May 14th, 1996 at Yankee Stadium, Dwight Gooden on the mound, the rest is history. Please take a look and comment as well. Thanks in advance
