About

A graduate of Northeastern University, Tim Williams is a devoted sports fan who isn't afraid to share opinions on what he sees. Always a fan of the entertainment value of sports, this is a view of sports from the fan's angle entirely. This commentary is entirely free of the hassle of actually knowing what goes on on the field or the sidelines. All columns guaranteed to be about unimportant topics like sports and entertainment, since this is all in good fun.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

    Nolan Ryan's Seven Professional No-Hitters

  • Ruth or Mays?

Mays, and it's not even all that close. I'm skeptical of all pre-integration baseball numbers.

  • Unitas or Montana?

Unitas. I have no reason why.

  • Jordan or Russell?

Jordan on the court--by far--and Russell off of it. Also by far.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

I have to say Bobby Orr or I'm going to be in trouble with the locals.

  • Pele or Maradona?

I wish I knew more about pitch football to make an educated call, but Maradona, because he makes the World Cup more entertaining by being a part of it.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Sampras. Behind Tim Duncan, the greatest athlete to receive the least hype for being great.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Nicklaus until proven otherwise. Before the knee injury and the hydrant though, Tiger was as good as there's ever been.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

Earnhardt, though I know absolutely nothing of importance about NASCAR.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

Senna, because Schumacher has a lot of trophies and a strong case, but Senna has tall tales.

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

    ...Hockey East?

Will: Thanks for the kind words. B/R has been a very positive place to write for thus far. I especially like the freedom to write about a wide range of topics. Baseball is my primary source of sports-related knowledge, so chances are I'll end up writing about that more often than not. At the same time, I watch a ton of sports and I'll write about anything that I can wrap my mind around enough. All the best.

Thanks for becoming a fan, Tim. I see you are pretty new to B/R, how are you liking it so far? Your baseball writing is terrific, I especially like the Offbeat awards. Do you plan on writing about any other sports or will you primarily cover baseball? Thanks again, Tim.
