About

I'm 20 years old and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. I'm too dumb for medicine and I'm too awful at writing to be a sports writer. But my friends are tired of me talking about Germany and the Spurs, so here I am on BR.

Hey, Character, Mental, Defensive and Neuer Flaws- that's what it takes to go down like that. Like Horst Heldt would put it, that felt like a 5-0 defeat! And honestly, that's what it would have been had Sweden showed character in the first half. The offence was flawless; the defence was anything but flawless. Incredibly poor! A lot of people point the finger at the Kroos-Basti combo. They are the reason the offence was so good in the last two matches along with Reus of-course. However, Basti seems to slack off defensively at times. Lahm is the only good defender there is. Hummels has off-days but is talented. May be somebody could convert SBender to a CB? May be Benedikt wouldn't be a bad idea. He is the captain of Schalke after all. Neuer needs to watch his back now- another messed up performance and Adler might be walking back into the team again with the way he has been playing for HSV.

I do like Reus I have to say but all the same, those were some memorable strikes from Kroos. Okay, yes Germany conceded from a header. Did you see who missed the ball? It was Basti and this was not the first time it has happened this season. Happened for Bayern too. He was my man of the match until that moment. Yes, Germany cannot score six against Brazil/Spain. But they can score three! All jokes aside, the defence was a new one today and we can't judge them on that error because they were flawless the rest of the night and didn't give away useful fks and corners to Ireland.

I am still smiling..:) I think it was either Sammer or Hoeness (or somebody from Bayern) who said a little bit of friction is good..:) And apparently, thanks to Basti, it is! This was the best performance I have seen from Germany since that 4-0 over Argentina in WC in 2010. They haven't played this well in a while.

Everybody played well but Ozil wasn't convincing to me. He did everything right but he didn't take the risks which Reus did. Nonetheless, Miro Klose scored too and this was a convincing performance. Sweden will be a tougher test- hope Basti says opinionated stuff before the game..;)

You know G, I am glad Basti talked. Lahm's outburst for Bayern in 2009 led to a revolution- 2 CL finals, a Pokal title, a Pokal final, a BL title and one BL runner-up spot. I was happier to see that he didn't apologize for his comments. Basti's comments don't necessarily reflect on the players- they reflect on Joachim Loew. Low has been mixed up undoubtedly since that exit against Italy. I know Basti said that fans should be happy they make sfs regularly. With Loew that is the limit perhaps because his tactics are all wrong in semis. I mean who on earth plays Piotr Trochowski ahead of Kroos in Muller's absence! That too after Kroos was coming in following a breakout season with Bayer Levs!

The performances in the qualis has been poor to date really. Really poor! They have won both games but have had their fair share of luck. Basti's absence hasn't helped. I just don't get a few of Low's decisions even though I generally tend to agree with him (kroos-khedira will never ever work!). Hansi Flick pointed out this recently: the team has a very strong Bayern bloc, a strong Dortmund bloc, two Londoners and two Madristas.

That I thought was an interesting comment. Before, the national side was really just talented stars coming in for one nation, not from different clubs.

And in the middle of all this, Uli Hoeness starts talking. I mean he is the president of Bayern and I really really like him but honestly he firstly said that Low should be tough on the players and then criticized Miro Klose. May be the first comment isn't wrong but where on earth is the second one coming from?

All in all, it should be a very interesting game for Germany against the dogged Irish.

Robben didn't take the pen thankfully. You know who is great at pens? Gomez! He does miss but never the imp ones. Once Alaba comes back, I think he will be the designated taker. For now Basti or Kroos could take them or even Ribery- all three have good track records despite missing some really imp ones.

And Toni Kroos- 4 goals in as many matches- didn't bother count the assists..:) 6 wins out of six for Bayern in all comps.:) Rolling it the Bayern way. You know sth weird? In CL this week, all three BL sides won and all three missed pens. Then, in the EL, all four German sides drew!

Hey, definitely agree with everything you said on my wall. And yes, the aura has been lacking- an aura, Effenberg bought to Bayern and Matthaus bought to Germany. An aura that can gotten with a new captain, an aura that can be gotten by making players stronger in the head- I honestly miss the 08 team- the won that struggled to the final- they were less than half as talented as this bunch but man they had will. They need a Ballack, even a Rolfes- because I am honestly starting to believe that Schweinsteiger and Lahm won't win you anything- Lahm needed to scream and shout today like Oli Kahn but he didn't. Bayern needs a leader, Germany needs a leader. Crap defending- man, you are so right- should have been 6-1- and what the hell was Loew thinking with Gomez? Looks like two more years of Klose is required until Lassogga and Petersen come through properly- and to think we let Boenisch switch to Poland- and stopped using Jansen..Jansen wasn;t great but he wasn't poor either. Man, Germany has to find some loopholes through FIFA and naturalize Contento/Alaba- and at-least give Howedes a chance he deserves. I am a Bayern fan and both academy graduates Bads and hummels disgusted me today.

Hey, Mario in for Mario at Bayern. Honestly, the management needs to think about starting Gomez in the big ones because for his ego, he really does bottle it up big time in big moments. With a better striker, Bayern could have been a European champion. Mandzukic is a good buy really. And G, I don't it will ever happen for Germany- as long as Loew is around, we will always be also rans...:(
