Jake 's Bio

Hey, guys, I'm a freshman in high school in the Milwaukee area. I do well in school and my favorite subject is, (no duh) writing and english.
Writing is my passion. I have been writing ever since I was a wee little lad. Bleacher Report has enhanced my writing technique and abilities and I thank each and every person that has encouraged me on B/R.
My favorite topic to write about is college hoops, but now that the season is over, I might tend to lean to the MLB side a little more.
I don't have a particular favorite NCAA team, but I love the Big Ten. Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Minnesota are my favorites and I despise Michigan. It was fun watching the Spartans make a National Championship run in Detroit.
If I had to choose a favorite MLB team, it would be the Brewers (being my hometown team). I really picked up a love for the game in my middle school years.
I would love to go to college as a journalim major. My dream job is to write for ESPN.com or some big newspaper as a sports writer. I love writing!!!!!
All comments and notes of encouragment are greatly appreciated! I want to thank Leroy Watson for writing "The Three E's of Bleacher Report: Educate, Engage, Entertain". I now look over my articles for each of these three aspects before publishing.
I hope you guys enjoy my writing! Thanks!

  3. Hi Jake! How are you?

I’m finally back, after almost a week off. I returned with the second part of my “Forgotten Stories of Courage” series, and it won POTD Saturday. I would love to give it legs for Sunday, because it has fewer than 300 reads:

Please stop by and give this piece a look. Let me know what you think afterward. Thanks so much for reading!

  5. Probably my only NFL piece I'll ever do. Let me know what you think if you get the chance Jake. Keep up the excellent writing!

  6. Jake,

Last week as you know I featured Antonio Bastardo of the Phillies, this week it's the New York Mets turn.

  8. My Baseball Weekly Notebook for last week is up. I took a look at the bullpens of each playoff team of the past 10 years and found some pretty big lines in the statistical sand. Check it out.

  9. Hey, how's it going:

I've got a new series and I'd like to get your take on it:

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Brilliant idea, Jake!

Let's give it a couple of months, because Memphis only has 5 or 6 scholarship players right now. Once the roster is set, I think your idea will work out fine.

  11. Either Memphis or a Memphis opponent.

But don't worry - I will find an angle! And once I get a little more established, I will reach out to some of our other affiliates to see what I can do.

  12. I was thinking of you doing a guest profile on a Memphis Tigers' opponent. Don't know if we're playing Marquette anytime soon, though.

  13. I will keep you in the loop, Jake. I'm thinking a great columnist piece somewhere down the road! What part of the country are you in??

  14. Well, Jake, I caught the eye of a managing editor in the Rivals.com network. I am putting together a team to cover University of Memphis sports. But if things go the way that I hope, I envision calling on a guest columnist from time-to-time for as yet unknown material.

I want a young, hungry team, people who will be getting their first exposure on a national stage. I'd love to do that with you! Don't know exactly how yet, but I know it can be done.
