Bulletin Board (6) Post a note »

  1. Yeah, it was a problem for a while, at least for the single idiot noted in this thread who decided after less than two months here and being given the "keys" he could totally change the tone of an article.

I suggested the powers that be allow editing in stages with the lowest only given the ability to edit for spelling and grammor but they blew that off I fuess and every ton dick and harry can edit anything.

To be honest I haven't posted much here in three weeks. One I have consistently had problems editing my own posts as they are imported from FT.

And secondly and more important I caught someone from another blog scraping a post here that had been also posted at FT.

They posted the entire article on their blog without giving credit. I noted the problem with the head honchos with little outward concern shown other than a perfunctory "oh yeah, we'll watch out for that."

  2. Hey Marc. I'm with you on the editting function. I will watch this for awhile. If it becomes abusive, I'll be gone.

  3. Marc,
Why is it that rarely have anything good to say about someone else's article. I have read a few of your comments and you seem like a person who needs a break. I realize that you have writing experience, but that doesn't make you the best writer. If you do not like the way this site is run, maybe you should not use it.

  4. So, you claim innocence as far as knowing what "you messed up" or no knowledge of "what the title was," this despite the fact I specifically quoted the headline as you had edited it. ("The article in question is 'Racing Tragedy: Edwards, Busch, You Could be Next' and the title was clearly changed by you.)

What you don't have a clue about how to use the search function to find that headline? And you have the unmitigated audacity to "teach" me how to revert the article back to its original state?

The article was left as you edited it for a reason, to show how allowing every Tom, Dick and Nobody the editing function can lead to problems.

You claim to not change "content of the work" and you didn't but perhaps you can explain what in that article was "tragic?" Anyone maimed? Killed?

No to either case, the result is by adding the term to the headline you completely changed the tone of the piece.

Here's a clue for ya, I've been doing this for well over 5 years on three different blogs I don't need or want anyone, and I repeat anyone screwing with my content or titles. Period!

  5. Marc,
My apologies. I am unsure what I messed up, but if I did, I shouldn't have. In case you don't know, you can revert back to the original. If you do not like how someone edits your articles, just go to the bottom of the edit page and change it back. I don't know what the title was or what I changed it to, but I would have only changed it if I thought it would get more people to read it. I know how you feel with about people messing with articles, so I try not to change the content of the work. Again, I'm sorry. I liked the article though. I did not know about incident until I read it...
    Scott

  6. Welcome to BR Marc, nice to have you aboard! Ya, NASCAR Nation can expect to see some empty seats out there at the tracks, we'll see how TV ratings go. Last year the ratings were down on both FOX and NBC.
