Hey, Michael. I'm glad to see you on here.
The thing you need to keep in mind is that with writing, you always keep improving. You won't necessarily be the best overnight, but every article you write will be an improvement of the previous one.
Use Microsoft Word if you have it. Using a word processor will give you a chance to help organize your thoughts. Read your favorite writers, not just for the story, but look at how it's written. Look at the information they provide.
Look at their prose, how the writer communicates with his readers.
Research a lot to make sure your column is factual.
Those are the things that come to mind. The only way you can improve is to keep writing. I'm more than happy to offer more advice, if needed.
Just have to keep at it. I see a lot of potential.
