John Mitchell's Injury Could Be Just What the Doctor Ordered for Leafs, Hanson
11/24/2009
Now a Bleacher Report Featured Columnist for the Toronto Maple Leafs, I look forward to having the opportunity of writing about my favourite team each and every week. While finishing my degree at the University of Toronto, I spend most of my time reading, writing about and watching a variety of sports. As most of us can say, I am certainly addicted, and if I'm not busy watching hockey or spending an entire Sunday keeping up with as many football games as possible I'm... Well, actually that's pretty much all I do.
Like Mark Twain once said: "I never let schooling interfere with my education."
Couldn't have said it any better myself.
The greatest thing about sports is no matter who is playing or what is at stake, something incredible can occur at any time, and that's why I simply cannot get enough. Upsets, overtimes, shootouts, and plays that you just cannot see enough replays of; could it possibly get any better? No, well, not unless they stopped hammering players for touchdown celebrations. I mean come on NFL, let the guys have some fun. And don't even get me started on the instigator penalty.
But I digress...
I'm a massive Leafs and New England Patriots fan, but if there's a game on, it doesn't matter who is playing; I am so there! My opinion is only worth what it cost you, but I hope it to be enjoyable and entertaining at the same time. Sparking conversation and heated debates about sports; what more could we possibly ask for?
"We don't need refs, but I guess white guys need something to do" - Charles Barkley
It's hardly fair to a player who just suffered an injury to say that it happened at the perfect time, but in the case of the Toronto Maple Leafs, it just may have...
He is definitely makes effective use of his ice time. Take a look at this: http://cheddarbomb.wordpress.com/2009/11/08/statistical-manipulation-points-per-minute-3/
Youngest captain to ever win the Stanley Cup. Lead his team to two straight Cup Finals. If he doesn't get injured, he'll have over 500 career...

Like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Thank you for commenting, Jon.
Great list and great article. I was reading an interview before the season started and David Clarkson didn't even think he had a roster spot coming...
