Shaq's Stature Is Critical To Lebron James' Development
06/25/2009
I am interested in the correct prediction of future sporting events- and being correct for the right reasons. If you are interested in things like confirmation bias, the bandwagon effect, congruence bias, outcome bias, and many more, please message me.
My favorite books include the black swan, fooled by randomness, the drunkards walk, freakonomics, outliers, the tipping point, blink, atlas shrugged, and moneyball.
I believe that certain situations and factors are repeated on an annual basis that lead to significant investment opportunities for the astute fan of sports. Without getting too specific, groups of humans suffer from cognitive biases when judging likely outcomes and assigning probabilities to those outcomes. These errors are frequently repeated and lead to significant reward opportunties with relatively low risk. Compared to how the stock market has performed, I am inclined to completely cease investing in modern stocks.
I didnt say the Cavs would win, did I? I was just correcting the wrong "facts" in your story.

I just spent 15 of the best minutes of my life reading the comments on your "Proof the Cavs Won't Win the Championship" article.
It's weird how none of the people who said they were going to bookmark the page and come back when the Cavs win haven't said anything yet.

Daniel-
I just finished a top ten list from the 65 series played in MLB, NHL, and NBA this decade that actually went the full seven games. I wanted to place the Bulls/Celtics first round series in a historical context. Please check it out if you have a chance. Thanks

I wrote an article proving Big Ben is in fact an elite QB. I would love for you to read it and give me your input.

I didn't really feel like Don Nelson told the players not to try or anything last year. If anything, I usually find it the opposite. Nellie rides his best players almost all the time trying to get wins. It's only been until recently that he's really accepted that the team is going to lose certain games no matter what. While I don't think Nellie purposefully gave up games last year, he's usually very blunt and occasionally negative about the teams he coaches. I think it's mostly trying to psychologically encourage players, by telling the media how bad they are or how little chance they have of winning.

yea I agree. Bynum provided that extra layer of depth where even if the Lakers didn't play seriously they still had a shot to retake the game in the final quarter. Gasol just couldnt get a hold of Shaq and the rest of team didn't step up. I'd like to think you're right about the exhausting travel being one of the key components in the Lakers recent embarrassing losses, but time will tell. I know they can't afford to keep this crap up though, the Lakers NEED the best record in the NBA and when KG comes back to the Celtics....they'll just start steamrolling people.

DeleteU were right that the Cavs will not win the Championship this year. Congratulations. I appreciate the fact that you came back and told your naysayers that you told them so. Really appreciate your passion. Still do not agree with your logic but you were right. So you have bragging rights. But seriously, The Magic did not play their best basketball till they met the Cavs and The Lakers obviously have a much better TEAM compared to anybody. I still root for the Cavs but only because of Lebron James and will always say that while Kobe Bryant is the best player on the planet, Lebron James is the most gifted (physically & mentally) player in History and a close 2nd in the best player race. Nothing you say can change that.
But I will appreciate it if you try :-D
