Joseph's Bio

I am a student at Northeastern University in Boston, and currently write for the Patriot Ledger, a daily paper that circulates in Quincy on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Last year I spent 10 months working for the Boston Bruins and writing content for their website.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, near San Jose, California, I'm a passionate fan of both hockey and the San Jose Sharks, and look forward to writing about and discussing both in detail as the NHL marches toward what promises to be one of the best playoff years in recent memory.

I'm here not only to talk about the game of hockey, but to dispel any myths remaining about West Coast hockey fans. If anything, the time difference gives US the advantage, and a more comprehensive knowledge of the modern NHL game. While I'll never argue that the average Sharks fan has a better grasp of the game of hockey as played on the ice, I've rarely encountered an fan base on the east coast that is particularly superior to anyone else's. More to come on that in the near future, I'm sure...

  1. Hi Joe. I became a fan of yours.

You can't see it, but I'm swooning right now.

  2. By the way, good to see you found me on facebook. I especially enjoyed that note about brian campbell on your profile, it was probably the funniest thing I've read in a long time.

  3. Haha, he told us he did! I'm pretty sure soupy saw it too when they were warming up because I saw him glance over at the sign and gave a chuckle.

  4. So I think you would enjoy the sign I have in my default picture...it got me on the big screen at the tank, not to mention a lot of creepy comments from people, lol.

  5. Ouch, brutal. It was around 70 today, I wore a short-sleeve shirt! :)
Oh, and did you read that quote about Mitchell on TSN today from an anonymous coach? That coach called Mitchell "a player who preys on the vulnerable." Haha, the Wilsons were pissed. I bet you $5 it was from Andy Murray.
And did you SEE that Sharks game tonight?!?!

  6. Haha, I would imagine. Seriously though, great work on your last article. It's pretty impressive. Interesting that you grew up in the Bay but moved to Boston. Don't you miss the weather? Haha!

  7. No problem, we all have to stick together! It's a shame people don't take Sharks fans seriously because of the stereotype that Californians don't know jack about hockey.

  8. Hey Joseph!
I was just reading your article, and I couldn't agree more with you. I was at that last game, and it was obvious that it wasn't intentional. Anyone that's ever watched a Sharks game knows Mitchell isn't a dirty player. Anyways, great article!
