Will Soccer Ever Be Popular in the US? Why Americans Can and Will Learn the Game
February 18, 2009
I was a player for several indoor pro soccer teams in the 1980's and 90's. The Milwaukee Wave and Chicago Power to name a few. After ending my playing career in 1996 with the Milwaukee Rampage of the A-League, i started officiating games at the high school, college and professional level. Lived in Key West, Florida from 2001-2006 where I worked on my tan, wrote sports articles for local papers and took people on waverunner tours. I'm back in Milwaukee working for rock bands and trying to get my book, SOCCERROCK, made into a movie.
Hey,
It's a tiny bit late as it took longer than expected to write it, but my review of 2009 is finally here! Last year's one won the AOTD award and hopefully I've done enough on this one to equal that feat, but I'll leave you to be the judge of that!
With 25 great moments from 12 different sports, and with everyone from Barcelona to France, the Yankees to the Lakers, and Usain Bolt to Tiger Woods there is something for everyone in this slideshow, plus a ranked top ten as the final slide!
If you get a chance would you mind checking it out? Cheers!

Hey,
Usain Bolt has left the world speechless again, but how does his Berlin performance compare to that of Jesse Owens 73 years earlier? Have a look, comment, and rate if you have the time!

Hey,
I've just written a special tribute to one of the greatest coaches in English football history and one of the greatest characters in the game who passed away earlier today: Sir Bobby Robson. If you've got time, can you check it out?

I'm listening to it, jaysus they need someone!!!
Cheers for the note Kris! I don't get to go to too many games at the moment because of college and not having a car, but I do feel lucky that I have the option, when I get a car, to go see some top quality games!
Thanks for the fan add as well! It's much appreciated!
Hey Kris,
A woman called Samantha Kleinman from ESPN360.com has e-mailed me regarding football matches available to watch for free on the website. Her main target audience is U.S based football fans, so I thought you might be interested. Would you like me to give her your e-mail address (if so, what is it?) or would you rather not? She would simply send you imformation about what free games are being shown, and when. They are matches from all over the world as well (Italy, Holland, England, Portugal etc.)
There is no pressure to say yes, I was just wondering whether you'd be interested and would like me to pass your name on?
Cheers,
Barney

Cool, you and I have some parallels. I played in the ASL, APSL, A League, never could do indoor, I am (was) a 6' 2" keeper. I am actually writing a book myself. Some other things in the works, etc.... If you are able and willing, send me an e mail on my web site, pj@thelanguageofsoccer.com I would like to run a thing or two by you which may be mutually beneficial. DON'T Worry, I will never ask for money! If you prefer correspondence in front of the B/R audience, I am cool with that.
I stole your "Ageless African" and threw it on my website. Just say the word and I will use 'eternal' in lieu of ageless. What is your book about?
