Shelly Woodward

Shelly Woodward grew up in Mayberry (Luckey, Ohio) with a father who had a love of racing. He was not only someone who worked for a local car dealer's pit crew at a local track but a dad who wanted the next Shirley Muldowney. Shelly began her racing career at the age of 10 racing quarter midgets at a local track. She was the back up driver for a cousin when he was throwing temper tantrums for losing. A pillow and a wood block would suffice to allow her to fit in the modified car. Alas though Shelly would discover boys and put her racing career on hold. That is until she became an adult and her cousin got her back on track. Besides going to races she was lucky enough to have a best friend who worked in radio which allowed her media access to the tracks, crew and drivers. It also allowed her to drive a car around MIS. What an adrenaline rush!! She has since taken on writing and reporting assignments related to Nascar. Her all time favorite driver will be Rusty Wallace. Martin Truex Jr has stolen her heart with his personality, style and home boy attitude. Her hope is he will be able to be one of the best drivers at DEI or wherever he chooses to go. After meeting him more than once, this writer backs him 110%.
