Ryan's Bio

Born and raised on the mean streets of the suburbs of Cincinnati Ohio. Forever a Buckeyes, Reds and Bengals fan, but after living in Phoenix and Orange County California, I also follow the Suns, Angels and Ducks.

I graduated from Chapman University in Orange County in 2006 with a BA in English and emphasis in journalism. I toiled in the news, sports and opinions departments on the campus newspaper, "The Panther" for three years. I also freelanced for the Orange County Register's sports department, covering high school football games for three years.

After suffering through the Bengals of the 1990s (and today, with only a small hope of redemption in 2005), the Reds of the 2000s and Ohio State football during the Cooper years, I've developed a pessimistic attitude toward my favorite teams. The only good Ohio team I followed growing up was the Cincinnati Cyclones, but they've folded and relocated so many times I've lost count. Nine times out of ten, if I post a comment bashing the Buckeyes, I'm being facetious and blowing off steam. 90% of what I say isn't meant to be taken seriously.

I also occasionaly write sports articles for my blog, "Worst Case Scenario" (http://buckeyenative01.blogspot.com/) when I'm not being cynical about other things. I'm proud to say that my blog is read by three of my best friends and my mom (who said my blog is kewl)

  1. Happy Valentine's Day!

To commemorate the day I handed out some special Valentine's to some deserving recipients. (My first attempt at humor.)

  2. Hey Ryan,

    You're welcome. Good article.

  3. Hey Ryan,

Are you interested in contributing to any "round table" articles about the Angels this season?

  4. Hey Ryan, thanks for picking my article as a favorite. I'm glad you liked it. It was a good game between our teams and depending on who stays around, both teams should be good next year.

Also noticed you're a Reds fan. I grew up in Houston but was a huge Pete Rose and Big Red Machine fan. While living in KY, I went to many, many, many Reds games. Love the park!

  5. Ryan, this is a special one. Everyone needs to read this from Joe Guaar:

  6. I am doing a PSU vs. OSU with Kristofer already, in the format of the Creature vs. Creature that Justin and David used for the LSU vs. UF game. Maybe I can do something else with you, but right now I am not sure.

  7. Thanks for the pick Ryan! Much appreciated.

  8. And another week of college football is in the books! Check out my top 25!
