The great part about growing up in an area (Philly) with every major and minor sports team within easy access is that there is never an off-season. Like so many other men raised in similar circumstances, sports are intertwined with many memories of my formative years -- from listening to the Eagles on the way home from church or watching Carter hit the 1993 series-winning home run on my parent's bed (still painful to relive) to casually mowing through a bucket of wings while cheering on the Sixers against the Lakers and making sure that studying for school was finished before the Flyers' playoff game started. A B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. (anticipated 2013) in physics/engineering has simply helped to tune my analytic thinking.
